NFL Week 16: Sunday Night Football Chiefs vs. Seattle Seahawks Odds and Game Preview

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs travel to one of the toughest venues in the National Football League when they visit CenturyLink Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks and their 12th Man. The Chiefs have already clinched a spot in the playoffs, and the Seahawks are likely also postseason bound, but a win would help both teams shape their paths to the Super Bowl.

Currently, the Chiefs are favorites with -2 ½ -110 odds and the game is expected to be full of points with the over at 54 -140. Register Now to place your bet right here at the best football betting sportsbook.

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a 29-28 loss to their AFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers, which dropped them to 11-3 on the season, but the Chiefs are still in the driver’s seat when it comes to winning their division. The Chargers though, also 11-3, are also in contention for the division title and a first-round bye in the postseason, so the Chiefs need to win this game to continue to control their own destiny. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues to play on fire in his first year as the full-time starter, passing for 45 touchdowns on the season while leading the offense, which has averaged 35.6 points per game. The running game has not missed a beat since star running back Kareem Hunt was let go, and even with Spencer Ware questionable for Sunday night’s match, running back Damien Williams has shown he’s capable of carrying the load.

“A lot of times, I’m looking at them outside from the sidelines, seeing how they operate,” Williams said of his big game. “Being able to get behind that line in my first start as a Kansas City Chief, that was a great feeling.”

The Seahawks had a four-game winning streak snapped last week in a 26-23 overtime loss to the San Francisco 49ers. At 8-6, Seattle will likely not catch the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West race but is in a position to clinch a Wild Card spot, with a 96 percent chance of reaching the postseason, and a win would punch its ticket to the playoffs. The Seahawks are again led by its defense, which is holding opponents to just 20.9 points per game, but is heading into their matchup against the Chiefs banged up, with defensive back Byron Maxwell and linebackers Erik Walden and K.J. Wright all questionable. The Seahawks running game has also taken its hits this season, with running back Rashaad Penny expected to miss another game, Seattle has signed former Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough off the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad. Russell Wilson will look to continue his strong season, having 31 touchdowns to only six interceptions this season.

The Kansas City Chiefs lead the head-to-head series with the Seattle Seahawks, 33-18. The two teams first met in 1977, and the Chiefs have won the last three matchups, with Kansas City defeating Seattle in a 24-20 victory at Arrowhead Stadium in 2014. The Seahawks will look to reverse recent history with a win that would get them back into the playoffs after missing out last season.
