Although it’s still early in the season to figure out whom the NBA 2019 MVP is going to be this current season, here’s a recount at the current candidates:

NBA 2019 MVP Candidates: Still Strong

Giannis Antetokounmpo: The Greek Freak is definitely the Bucks star, and also their most productive player so far. He’s doubtlessly the favorite MVP candidate at the Eastern Conference as of now.

Anthony Davis / LeBron James: It is tough to tell which of these two is the most valuable player on the Lakers. Whoever finishes the regular season with the best individual stats has the best shot at getting the Most Valuable Player award.

Kawhi Leonard: The guy that led the current champs to their first title ever is one of the most productive players in the league, and also a firm candidate to get the MVP honors.

Joel Embiid: No doubt, the Sixers are currently one of the top teams in the NBA right now, and Embiid is one of the best players in the world. If he manages to play more than 70 games, those accumulated positive stats can earn him an MVP this year.

NBA 2019 MVP Candidates: Still Alive

James Harden: Although he’s not atop of anybody’s list right now, he’s the current league scoring leader, and have a lot of chances to improve in the areas where he has shown some weaknesses.

Damian Lillard: This player can only become the MVP if his team, the Blazers, finishes as one of the best teams in the West. Right now, this seems like a one-player team, so the rest of the guys at Portland needs to step up their games if they want to accomplish something good this season.

Donovan Mitchell: Same as with Lillard’s case, this guy is quite good, but his team hasn’t responded with the same intensity. So, his team also needs to improve if Mitchell wants to have a shot at MVP.

NBA 2019 MVP: Rising Candidates

Jimmy Butler: Things can go Butler’s way if his team manages to win at least fifty games, and if he finishes as the team leader in points and assists. But he also needs a little luck on his side, as he’s competing for MVP with other top West candidates such as Embiid and the Greek Freak.

Karl-Anthony Towns: He has been quite phenomenal this year, and he’s probably the only reason why the T-Wolves are respectable this season. Frankly, he’s similar to Davis when he was playing for a lesser team. So, just picture Towns in a team like the Lakers, and then you can imagine his full potential. Indeed, he’s a very high-caliber player for Minnesota.

Luka Doncic: He’s just 20 years old, but he’s the future of the NBA. And, even though he might not get the MVP this time, one of those future Most Valuable Player awards it’s in store for him.

NBA 2019 MVP Candidates: Gone / Fading

Stephen Curry: As the Warriors superstar is set to lose at least three months of competition due to a broken hand, his MVP campaign is undoubtedly over.

Nikola Jokic: This player started the season with the left foot, entirely out of shape, and not very engaged. With that said, it’s still early in the season, so Jokic can turn into a better candidate as time passes by.

Kyrie Irving: This player has been performing quite well, but he lacks a little bit of team chemistry, and that can be a killer for MVP when your team is struggling early in the season.
