Throughout the first half, the Grizzlies showed at least they might be able to keep it together. However, come the second half of the game and the Spurs unleashed hell, going on a 19-point run that buried Memphis.
The Spurs in fact, benched their starters in the last period without hesitation, fully knowing the game was already in their hands.
The absence of Marc Gasol and Mike Conley is simply too much for the Grizzlies to overcome. Whatever contribution Zach Randolph can give, is just not enough at this point in the competition against the Spurs. Even if Matt Barnes, Lance Stephenson and Vince Carter add their own in game 2, it will probably be too little to overcome the superior Spurs. Considering that over the past five games, Memphis has given up just around 109 points on average, tonight’s game might be another blowout.

San Antonio won, which didn’t come as a surprise to anyone watching this series. The Spurs are clearly ready to get through this series and have their eye on the championship rather than on the Grizzlies.
Kahwi Leonard was on fire, handing Memphis 20 points along with three blocks and four steals to his name. Leonard continues to be the driving force on both sides of the court for the Spurs.
Tony Parker and LaMarcus Aldridge also pulled their own weight, adding 32 points between the two. Should the Spurs keep focus and not lose sight of the goal, they’ll get through this series, and tonight’s game, easily. However, should they fall prey to overconfidence, they might be in store for a nasty surprise.
