MLS Betting Odds and Game Previews Week 1, April 2019

We have four Big MLS matches this weekend. Get ready for the best soccer betting action.

DC United and LAFC

The two teams at the top of the MLS standings go at it this weekend; it doesn’t get any better than this as the #1 team in the West faces off against the #1 team in the East. LAFC is coming off a big win last week against San Jose in which LAFC’s Mexican sensation Carlos Vela netted a hat trick. Vela now has six goals on the season after that game, putting him atop the scoring leader board.

Meanwhile, DC United is coming off a close win in Orlando. Wayne Rooney scored and had an assist on the second goal in that game to put his team up by two. The United then hung on as Orlando threw everything at them but were not able to get the equalizer.

Saturday’s game will give both teams a chance to put some distance on their competition in the standings as well as provide an early bragging rights opportunity. DC United is a slight favorite (+132 money line u3-101 total -¼-107 goals), compared to LAFC (+196 money line o3-129 total +¼-123 goals).

NY Red Bulls vs. Sporting Minnesota

Defending regular season champions, NY Red Bulls have not been able to put together a winning record yet this season and currently sit in 8th place in the Eastern Conference. Although they have had one less game than most teams, there is still a cause for concern amongst the team and their fans. This week they host a Minnesota team that won their first two games of the season but have been empty-handed ever since. The Red Bulls are favorites (-158 money line u2¾-102 total -1-102 goals) compared to the underdog Minnesota (+428 money line o2¾-128 total +1-128 goals). It will be a crucial matchup for both teams, so it will be interesting to see how both teams respond to what has been a lousy season so far.

LA Galaxy vs. Vancouver Whitecaps

The Galaxy sits just one point behind the four leaders in the West, and this Friday’s game against Vancouver gives them an excellent opportunity to put some pressure on the other conference leaders, which all play on Saturday. The Galaxy have been on a roll lately, led by their star Zlatan Ibrahimović who scored two goals last week against Portland. The Galaxy should have no trouble dispensing of the Whitecaps, who have yet to win a match this season. Regardless, the odds for this matchup are reasonably close; LA Galaxy is the favorite (+159 money line o3-103 total PK-120 goals), while Vancouver is just behind them (+173 money line u3-127 total PK-110 goals)

Columbus vs. New England

Back over in the East, Columbus sits right behind DC United at the top of the standings. Both teams have 10 points, but DC has the advantage on goals. The Crew’s game against New England this weekend gives them a perfect opportunity to overtake 1st place. New England had been struggling to find a win all season, and finally got one last week against Minnesota. The odds for this game are a little more straightforward; Columbus is the favorite (-164 money line u2¾-112 total -1-106 goals) while New England is the underdog (+461 Moni line o2¾-118 total +1-124 goals).
