North Carolina Tar Heels vs Oregon Ducks

  • When: April 01, 2017, 8:49 PM ET
  • Where: University of Phoenix Stadium
  • Spread: North Carolina -4.5
  • Over/Under: 151
  • Watch: CBS

Analysis: Luke Maye gave the Tar Heels another shot at this year’s title after hitting the game-winning shot over Kentucky with only 0.3 seconds left on the clock. Though Joel Berry has been struggling as of late, Maye has provided support off the bench to give Justin Jackson and Kennedy Meeks what they need to power the Tar Heels’ offense. North Carolina is impressive on offense, but it also is strong on defense, in fact, keeping  Kentucky’s De’Andre Fox and Malik Monk to only a combined 25 points on 9 of 24 shooting. The Ducks meanwhile, are ready for the limelight; it’s Oregon’s first time in the Final Four in 39 years and after defeating the Kansas Jayhawks they seem poised to make it happen. The trio of Tyler Dorsey, Dillon Brooks, and Jordan Bell power the Ducks’ offense. Dorsey had 27 points and 6 3s, and is averaging 24.5 points and shooting 67 percent from the field in the competition. Bell picked up his third double-double in four games with 11 points, 13 boards, and 8 blocks, while, forward Dillon Brooks is averaging 16.5 points.

Game Predictions: The Tar Heels have the advantage on the inside because of the absence of the Duck’s Chris Boucher. Though Bell may be able to keep North Carolina at bay inside the paint, he’ll be hard pressed to keep it up for the entire game. North Carolina wins.

Gonzaga Bulldogs vs South Carolina Gamecocks

  • When: April 01, 2017, 6:09 PM ET
  • Where: University of Phoenix Stadium
  • Spread: Gonzaga -6.5
  • Over/Under: 139
  • Watch: CBS

Analysis: The Bulldogs ended Xavier’s Cinderella passage in this competition, knocking them out in the Elite Eight round in a game that ended 83-59. Nigel Williams-Goss jumped back into the saddle after a disappointing game against West Virginia and scored 23 points and 8 boards, while  Johnathan Williams added 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead Gonzaga to a win. Gonzaga is a well-balanced team with a strong offense and an even better defense. However, the Gamecocks head into this game with an equally impressive defense and good offense led by Sindarius Thornwell, who had a team high 26 points in their game against SEC rivals Florida whom they defeated 77-70.

Game Predictions: Because both teams are extremely good at defense, it’ll be a low-scoring match. The team that controls the perimeter will end up having the edge on offense. My bet is on Gonzaga to win, but it’ll be the Gamecocks that cover.
