Betting on Juventus

After opening the first game with two goals within 10 minutes of the match, Juventus ended with egg on their face by allowing Tottenham to tie for the final 2-2 score.

The game-tying equalizer from Christian Ericksen in the 71st minute left Juventus shell-shocked as they suddenly saw the road to the final eight get much tougher.

Juventus will now have to scramble and pull out all stops to gain goals in what will surely be a difficult stadium.

Though some players such as Gonzalo Higuain and Miralem Pjanic have downplayed the result against Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, it’s clear the situation is dire.

Even if Higuain is set to return to face Tottenham, it will be an uphill struggle all the way. The Argentinian striker was not only Juventus’ goal-scorer in the first match, but without him it’s doubtful whether or not Juventus will find the back of the net.

Having struggled to contain Tottenham in the second half, Juve will now have to find a new approach to, at least, keep a clean sheet.

However, and it shouldn’t go without saying, considering the Premier League’s team form in London it might be the end of the road for Juve.

Betting on Tottenham

Taking two away goals, as well as a great performance, to Wembley for the second leg gives Mauricio Pochettino’s side a better-than-expected position, especially after Gonzalo Higuaín’s quick scores in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Even if Tottenham hasn’t necessarily done well in the Champions League in the last few years, this one could arguably be their strongest run yet.

Should they advance past Juventus, it could herald this team’s coming of age in Europe’s most elite competition.

Tottenham will look once more to Harry Kane to find the back of the net for The Lilywhites. Though Kane was denied a goal at first by legendary Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, the talented striker managed to notch a critical goal in the 35th minute of the match.

Tottenham will also be counting on their home pitch advantage as they’ve not lost there since late October, winning 11 and drawing two since then, as well as playing three solid matches in the group stage.

Tottenham scored in all three group stage games, beating Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid and Apoel Nicosia.

Prediction: Tottenham will find the back of the net in the first half; Juventus will scramble in the second half but they’ll settle with a 1-1 draw which evidently will knock them out of competition.
