2017 NHL Playoffs Second Round Game Predictions

Edmonton Oilers vs Anaheim Ducks

  • When: April 26, 2017, 10:30 PM ET
  • Where: Honda Center
  • Moneyline: Oilers +120 vs Ducks -133
  • Over/Under: 5

Betting on the Oilers?

Edmonton created some waves after defeating the current conference champs San Jose Sharks. Now they face Anaheim and things will get even harder for the young crew.

Connor McDavid (30 G, 70 A) and Leon Draisatl (29 G, 48 A) have been at the forefront of this team’s success; against Anaheim, the Oilers won three of five regular season games.

Defense might be a challenge for Cam Talbot. Against the Sharks, he gave up 12 goals over five games, his second worst mark against any team this year.

Betting on the Ducks?

The Ducks head into this series as the team to beat. Their impressive record, including the series sweep over the Calgary Flames, reads at 15-0-3 in their last 18 games.

Anaheim however seems to have to expend much effort competing against the Oilers. Over the regular season they went 2-1-2 overall, but their playoff experience should carry them through.

Ryan Getzlaf and Rickard Rakell continue to lead the offense in scoring (both have five points). The duo also accounted for the most points in the season series against Edmonton, scoring seven and and four points, respectively, Getzlaf accounting for six assists.

Trends: Edmonton is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games on the road; Anaheim is 17-6 SU in its last 23 games when playing Edmonton

Game Prediction: Anaheim sinks its teeth in the first game of the series and wins.

Nashville Predators vs St. Louis Blues

  • When: April 26, 2017, 8:00 PM ET
  • Where: Scottrade Center
  • Moneyline: Sharks -138 vs Oilers +125
  • Over/Under: 5

Betting on the Predators?

The Predators lived up to its name as they proceeded to disembowel the Chicago Blackhawks in four games. Not only that, Nashville outscored Chicago by a 13-3 margin in the series.

Nashville’s forwards Ryan Johansen, Viktor Arvidsson and Filip Forberg proved to be deadly-effective and unstoppable for the Blackhawks to handle, as the trio combined for 15 points in the series.

Goalie Pekka Rinne is performing incredibly well; Rinne allowed only three goals to the league’s fourth-highest scoring team during the regular season.

Betting on the Blues

The Blues only took five games to knock out the Minnesota Wild from competition.

Goalie Jake Allen has been front and center of this team’s success. Allen now sports a .956 save percentage which is fantastic. What’s better is Allen stopped 174 of the Wild’s 182 shots in that series.

The Blues offense hasn’t kicked into gear. Star foward Vladimir Tarasenko has been lackluster in the attack. Tarasenko, scored 20 goals through 38 postseason starts, but only scored one goal of the series against the Wild in Game 5’s series-clinching win.

Trends: Nashville is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games on the road; St. Louis is 5-16 ATS in its last 21 games at home

Game Prediction: Predators strike first and win 3-2.
