The Packers entered the season with high expectations, because they added Julius Peppers to help improve their pass rush on defense, and finally have a running game to help their already potent offense.
Things haven’t really gone as planned for the Packers this season, they started the season 1-2, and last season’s Rookie of the Year, hasn’t been very effective so far. That is why most people expected them to lose to the Chicago Bears on Sunday, but Aaron Rodgers wasn’t having any of that. He gave a vintage performance against the Bears, throwing for over 300 yards and four touchdowns, which helped his team defeat the Bears on the road for the fourth straight time.
The Vikings were hoping to get back in the playoffs this year, after a disastrous 2013 campaign. They drafted rookie Teddy Bridgewater as their quarterback of the future, but he wasn’t expected to see any action this season. The Vikings were relying on their running game to keep them in games because they have Adrian Peterson, who was the league MVP in 2012, and the passing game to do just enough to get them over the top.
Unfortunately for the Vikings, things have not gone exactly as planned, they deactivated Adrian Peterson after the first game of the season, so he can focus on his off the field issues, which can cost him the season, and they lost
starting quarterback Matt Cassell for the season in the third game of the year.
The loss of Peterson affected the team drastically, and they combined for 113 yards in the first two games after he was deactivated. They bounced back against the Atlanta Falcons, and erupted for 241 yards and 4 touchdowns.
The team hasn’t been badly affected by the loss of Matt Cassell, because Teddy Bridgewater has played well, and looks like an upgrade over Cassell. He threw for 317 yards against Atlanta, and ran for a touchdown, but he sprained his ankle in the game, and his status for Thursday’s game is up in the air.
The Vikings should have no problems running the ball against the Packers, because the Packers have problems stopping the run, and allow 176 yards per game on the ground. The Packers will also have to find a way to get their running game going against the Vikings, because they don’t give up a lot of yards through the air.
Game Line: The Packers are favored to win the game by 9 points, the Over/Under is 47.5 points.

Both Teams need to win this game in order to keep up with the Detroit Lions, who are on top of the NFC North at 3-1, especially the Packers, who already lost to the Lions on the road this season.
