Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs Ohio State Buckeyes

  • Time: Saturday, October 01, 2016 12:00 PM ET
  • Place: Ohio Stadium
  • Betting Line: Buckeyes -38.5
  • Total: 58

Bet on the Scarlet Knights

Though the Scarlet Knights had a shot at going 3-0, they lost their last game to Iowa, 14-7. However, Rutgers held their own against the Hawkeyes going so far as to keeping them to only 355 yards in total.

Defense is something they’ll need considering their next opponent, the Ohio State Buckeyes. It’s no secret the Scarlet Knights are the heavy underdog and they’ll have to do whatever it takes to slow down Ohio State’s offense, especially through the air. As far as their offense goes, Rutgers’ quarterback Chris Laviano will have kick it up more than a notch or two; against Iowa, Laviano only completed 13 of 24 passes for 190 and a touchdown, something which clearly doesn’t cut it when you’re facing an opponent such as the Buckeyes.

Bet on the Buckeyes

The Buckeyes head into this game having defeated the Oklahoma Sooners last Saturday, 45-24. With the win, Ohio State is now at 3-0 and well positioned to keep this streak going. The Buckeyes’ offense is impressive, averaging 56.7 points per game this season which is third best in the FBS. Quarterback J.T. Barrett is the motor that keeps this offense going and passed for 152 yards and four touchdowns along with 74 yards on the ground. Other notables include wide receiver Noah Brown who caught four touchdown passes in the game against the Sooners.

Though the Buckeyes shouldn’t have many problems in defeating Rutgers, they cannot afford to rest on their laurels and would do well to establish dominance early on in the game. If the air attack fails to do the trick, they can always go to the ground and have Marlon Mack get the job done. Mack ran for 123 yards on 18 carries in the last game.

Betting Trends

  • Rutgers is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games
  • Rutgers is 3-7 SU in its last 10 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Rutgers's last 5 games
  • Rutgers is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 10 of Ohio State's last 15 games
  • Ohio State is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games at home
  • Ohio State is 16-1 SU in its last 17 games at home
  • The total has gone UNDER in 7 of Ohio State's last 10 games at home

Game Predictions: There’s no denying the Buckeyes will crush the Scarlet Knights. Even with this big of a spread, Ohio State will cover.

Miami Hurricanes vs Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

  • Time: Saturday, October 01, 2016 12:00 PM ET
  • Place: Bobby Dodd Stadium
  • Betting Line: Hurricanes -7
  • Total: 51.5

Bet on the Hurricanes

The Hurricanes tore through their first three opponents easily. First, it was Florida A&M that fell 70-3; then, it was Florida Atlantic whom they defeated 38-10; finally, it was Appalachian State that lost 45-10.

Their next opponent might give them a bit more competition though as the Yellow Jackets will give up as many points as their previous opponents. And, considering the Canes’ starting QB, Brad Kaaya, might not start due to injury it might even things out a bit. Kaaya is key to the Hurricanes’ offense, passing for 14 yards per completion along with a 78 percent success rate in the red zone. Coupled with running backs Mark Walton and Joseph Yearby and this offense is deadly effective.

As impressive as is the offense, their defense is equally as such; the Hurricanes defense have only allowed 1.5 yards per carry to opposing teams and are averaging four sacks and one interception per game.

Bet on the Yellow Jackets

The Yellow Jackets were riding a 3-0 record but their loss against the Clemson Tigers cut the streak short. Georgia Tech is not playing well offensively with quarterback Justin Edwards averaging only 121 yards on 45 percent completion which makes the passing game practically inexistent. The running game is a bit better with back Dedrick Mills leading the way with 205 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

As for the Yellow Jackets’ defense, they might fare better against the Hurricanes and could contain them. They’re only allowing 3.7 yards per rush which should help them.

Betting Trends

  • Miami-FL is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games on the road
  • Miami-FL is 5-10 SU in its last 15 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Miami-FL's last 12 games on the road

Texas Longhorns vs Oklahoma State Cowboys

  • Time: Saturday, October 01, 2016 12:00 PM ET
  • Place: Boone Pickens Stadium
  • Betting Line: Cowboys -2.5
  • Total: 71.5

Bet on the Longhorns

The Longhorns stumbled for the first time this season, losing to California in their last game. It also doesn’t bode well that they gave up 50 points to the Golden Bears considering that the Cowboys are scoring at 30 points in each of the four games they’ve played this year.

Thankfully, the Longhorns can go tit for tat on offense; over three games, Texas has averaged around 45 points which is right up there with the best teams in the nation. Quarterbacks Shane Buechele and Tyrone Swoopes make for a deadly combination that gives this offense a good punch that’s hard to stop.

Bet on the Cowboys

Meanwhile, the Cowboys also need to dust themselves off after losing to Baylor last week, 35-24. The Cowboys’ performance was lackluster on both sides of the ball, however, they’ll get a chance to turn things around against the Longhorns that are giving up an insane 50 points per game this year. Quarterback Mason Rudolph shouldn’t have too hard of a time in connecting with his receivers and doing major damage through the air. Running backs Justice Hill and Rennie Childs can also move the chains through the ground for the Cowboys.

Betting Trends

  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Texas's last 7 games
  • Texas is 1-6 ATS in its last 7 games on the road
  • Texas is 1-6 SU in its last 7 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Texas's last 10 games on the road
  • Oklahoma State is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Texas
  • Oklahoma State is 4-2 SU in its last 6 games when playing Texas
  • Oklahoma State is 4-14 SU in its last 18 games when playing Texas

Game Predictions: We’re looking to Oklahoma State to win and cover the 3-point spread.
