NFL Week 2 Previews: Seahawks at Steelers, Cowboys at Redskins

After all the thrill and excitement from Week 1, it’s time to analyze what the NFL has on its plate for the second regular-season week. Here’s a couple of previews for the Seahawks at Steelers and Cowboys at Redskins games.

Week 2: Seahawks at Steelers Betting Odds

The Seahawks are visiting Heinz Field on September 15 for the second match of their regular season. Their home status is allowing the Steelers to open as favorites, and the reason is that they always come up with positive figures at their arena.

Last season they closed with a 5-3 record at home, and they were 6-2 in both 2017 and 2016. Pittsburgh also won its last two games vs. Seattle at Heinz Field: a 24-0 back in 2011, and a 21-0 back in 2007.

But, the last meeting between these two teams was back in 2015, and that was a 39-30 Seahawks victory at CenturyLink Field.

Week 1 Results

Week 1 is gone, and now we know how these two times performed during their first meetings, let’s see.

Horrible Start for The Steelers

The Steelers weren’t able to make it to the postseason last year, and they started their regular season with an awful 33-3 road defeat versus the Patriots! Pittsburgh fans are very disappointed, and many are comparing this loss to the 51-0 defeat to the Browns back in 1989. The difference is that the Steelers team that lost to Cleveland had low expectations, and the current squad is considered a much better one.

So, they really need to take advantage of their home status versus the Seahawks to get a win at their arena and avoid a disaster of a season.

Seahawks Start Regular Season with Home Win

The Seahawks, on the other hand, started well with a 21-20 home win against the Bengals. Seattle had a tough time vs. Cincinnati, but at the end, they managed to come up with some impressive touchdown drives that allowed them to seal the victory at CenturyLink Field.

Now, the Seahawks are putting their hopes in accomplished quarterback Russell Wilson, and also in their star rookie, DK Metcalf, who had an impressive debut, finishing with 89 receiving yards, a franchise record.

Week 2: Cowboys at Redskins Betting Odds

Dallas is visiting Washington for the second match of their current NFL regular-season schedule. Despite being the visiting team, the Cowboys are favorites to win this match.

Week 1 Results

Let’s see how these two teams performed during their first matches of the current season:

Prescott Was Impressive for the Cowboys

The Cowboys started their season greatly, as they acquired a valuable 35-17 home win versus one of their division rivals, the Giants. New York scored the first touchdown of this match, but this lead didn’t last long, as Dak Prescott threw for three touchdowns during the first half, and then it was all about the Cowboys.

Prescott is currently waiting for a new extension deal with the team, and the efficiency, accuracy, and confidence he showed during Week 1 will certainly help him get that contract signed.

He threw for an extra touchdown during this match, and finished with 405 yards, proving that he has what it takes to lead the Cowboys’ offensive to great things during this season.

Redskins’ Running Game Was Awful

The Redskins lost their first road match of the season vs. the Eagles 32 to 27 at Lincoln Financial Field.

The big plus for the Redskins was the 48-yard touchdown by veteran Vernon Davis, who dedicated his performance to his grandfather, who passed away the previous day to the match.

With that said, experts agree that the running game by Washington was very poor. They end up with 28 rushing yards, which is the least for a season opener for the Redskins since they finished with 24 back in 1965 vs. the Browns. This is also the worst in any season match since they finished with 27 rushing yards during a loss to the Rams back in 2014.
