NFL International Series Insights

The Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars head to London this week, to play the final game of the 2014 NFL International Series, the Jaguars are technically the home team in this game, but I have a feeling the Cowboys will have more fans rooting for them, because they are one of the most recognized NFL franchises in the world.

Dallas Cowboys (6-3) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-8), Sunday, November 9, 1 PM. ET. FOX.

MVP candidate DeMarco Murray was limited to 79 yards and zero touchdowns against the Arizona Cardinals last week, ending his impressive streak of running for over 100 yards in the first eight games of the NFL season, but he is expected to have a big game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, not only because their rush defense is 24th in the NFL, but also because of the uncertainty of who will start at quarterback for the Cowboys.

Regardless of who gets the start, Murray will get a lot of touches in this game, if Brandon Weeden gets his second start of the year, the team will give Murray a lot of touches, because they don’t want to put the ball in Weeden’s hands too much, to avoid costly turnovers, and if Romo starts, Murray will still get a lot of touches to protect his quarterback, who is coming off a back injury.

The Cowboys have lost two straight games, and dropped to second in the NFC East, so they know they have to win this game, not only to snap their losing streak, but to get them back in the mix in their division, because their next two games are against division foes, and they can’t afford to waste an opportunity to get a win against a 1-8 team.

The Jaguars are hoping that Brandon Weeden gets the start, because it gives them the best chance of winning this game. Despite the fact that they have lost two games in a row, and have only won one game all year, their offense has shown some signs of improvement in their last two games, mostly due to the emergence of Denard Robinson, who has averaged over 100 yards on the ground in their last three games. The Jaguars played well on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals last week, and the team will be hoping the offense continues to improve, and lead them to victory against the Cowboys.

The Jaguars defense is another matter entirely, because they give up too many points to their opponents. They will need to play very well on Sunday if this team is to have a chance of winning the game, especially against the run, because they have given up over 300 yards on the in their last two games. A win against the Cowboys will give them some confidence going into their bye week, and they might still have a chance of salvaging their season.

Game Line: The Cowboys are favored to win this game by 7 points, the Over/Under is 45 points.

Personal Pick: The Jaguars will give a good effort, but it won’t be enough to defeat the Cowboys.
