NFL Betting Insights: Giants vs. Redskins

When the Washington Redskins and New York Giants played in the past, the division title or a playoff game was usually on the line, but when they face each other on Thursday; it is to make sure they don’t fall far behind the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, who are both ahead of them in the NFC East.

New York Giants (1-2) at Washington Redskins (1-2), Thursday, September25, 8:25 PM. ET. CBS.

After winning the Super Bowl in 2012, the Giants have failed to make it back into the playoffs, and know that missing out on the playoffs for a third year in a row will cost some people their jobs, so they are doing all they can to make it happen.

They brought in Ben McAdoo to run the offense, which didn’t look good after their first two games, but looked much improved when they defeated the Houston Texans. Eli Manning looked like his old self, and had his most efficient game in a long time, completing 21-28 passes for 234 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Victor Cruz, who hadn’t done much this season, also had a good game for the Giants, catching 5 passes for 107 yards and 1 touchdown, but the biggest surprise on offense was rookie Rashad Jennings, who looked good in the preseason, but hadn’t played as well in the first two weeks of the season. He exploded for 176 yards and 1 touchdown, which helped the Giants avoid another 0-3 start to the season.

Defensively, the Giants also played well, and intercepted Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick three times, to keep the Texans at bay.

Washington played in what has to be the most exciting game of the year so far, they took an early lead against the Eagles, but allowed the Eagles to come back and take the lead, before they came back and tied the game at the end of the third quarter, then finally losing it and the game late in the fourth quarter.

In all that excitement, Kirk Cousins had his best game as a pro, throwing for 424 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception, in relief of Robert Griffin III. Wide receiver Desean Jackson also had a big game against his former team, catching 5 passes for 117 yards and 1 touchdown, including an 81 yard bomb that tied the game in the third quarter.

The Redskins will likely continue to rely on their passing game against New York, who have one of the worst pass defenses in the league, but need to let their offense run through Alfred Morris, who is one of the best running backs in the league, and can help make things easier on Kirk Cousins.

The Giants will once again feed Rashad Jennings the ball, and hope for the same results against the Redskins, as he had against Houston.

Game Line: The Redskins are favored to win this game by 3 points, the Over/Under is 45 points.

Personal Pick: The Giants have won three of the last four meetings, but the last two came last season, when the Redskins were in the midst of one of the worst seasons in franchise history. I think the Redskins will rebound from their tough loss against the Eagles and win this game.
