Iowa State Cyclones vs Nevada Wolf Pack

  • When: March 16, 2017, 9:57 PM ET
  • Where: Bradley Center
  • Spread: Iowa State -6
  • Over/Under: 155

Analysis: Are you ready for a three-point shootout? Because that’s what this game will most likely turn into. Both of these teams are great from downtown, with Iowa State in the top 15 and Nevada among the top 40. Their end of season numbers were also great; Iowa State won six in a row at the end of conference play and Nevada went 9-0 in their last nine. But, there’s one player who could turn the tables to their favor, and that’s Iowa State’s Monte Morris, who is easily the best player in either squad. Nevada though has the advantage in controlling the boards and is ranked 69th in rebounding rate which could also tilt the odds to Nevada’s favor.

Game Prediction: Morris will have a good game and light up the scoreboard. I expect it to be a close game throughout but the Cyclones will win in the end and cover.

Gonzaga Bulldogs vs South Dakota State Jackrabbits

  • When: March 16, 2017, 2:00 PM ET
  • Where: Vivint Smart Home Arena
  • Spread: Gonzaga -22
  • Over/Under: 153

Analysis: There’s no denying the Bulldogs will win this game. But, will they cover the 22-point spread? Gonzaga enters this Tournament as the No. 1 seed with an almost flawless 32-1 record along with the WCC title under their belts. They’re starting five, Nigel Williams-Goss, Przemek Karnowski, Jordan Mathews, Zach Collins, and Jonathan Williams are downright scary, all of them scoring in double-digits, with four of them shooting above 52 percent. Williams-Goss is the winner of this year’s WCC Player of the Year award and leads a squad that averages 84 points per game. And, what about the Jackrabbits? Well, not to take anything away from Mike Daum, who’s had a great year and is also one heck of a player. But, apart from him South Dakota doesn’t have anyone to stand against the Bulldogs.

Game Prediction: Can the Bulldogs cover this high a spread? I think they will.

Virginia Cavaliers vs UNC Wilmington

  • When: March 16, 2017, 12:40 PM ET
  • Where: Amway Center
  • Spread: Virginia -6.5
  • Over/Under: 135

Analysis: The Cavaliers are favored to win by 6.5 points, but though their a fantastic team on defense, they’re struggle to put up points. Virginia is currently averaging just 66 points per game this season and with no real scorer in their ranks, there’s no reason to believe this game will be any different. This is to say that they’ll probably have problems in covering the spread even against a sub par UNC Wilmington defense. In fact, I have reason enough to believe there might be an upset in store in this game. The Seahawks have a great squad with an offense that’s scoring 85 points per game.

Game Prediction: Can you say upset? Because that’s what I believe this game will be. The Seahawks move on.
