Bet on the Penguins

You could say a lot of the conditions of the ice in game 3, but the fact of the matter is the Penguins ended up with the shit end of the stick, losing in overtime 3-2.

The Penguins actually had less turnovers than the Sharks in that game and arguably played much better. Out of the total 41 turnovers that both teams combined for, the Pens accounted for 16. And, they also out shot the Sharks by 42 to 26.

This makes one think that Pittsburgh is still much better positioned to crown themselves with the Stanley Cup. With Carl Hagelin, Nick Bonino and Phil Kessel, Pittsburgh still has a deadly combination to find the back of the net.

Bet on the Sharks

If it wasn’t for Joonas Donskoi, the Sharks would have been in a very deep hole tonight. San Jose has struggled throughout this series and can’t seem to find any sort of rhythm going. Though Donskoi has provided for at least some offensive power, it’s still probably too little to overcome the Penguins.

Joel Ward might be able to provide some punch apart from Donskoi. Ward has five goals in his last five starts, which helps given team captain Joe Pavelski’s current problems in this series. Though Pavelski came into the Stanley Cup with a league-best 13 playoff goals, he’s yet to notch a point and has been held to only four shots on goal through the first three games against the Penguins.

It looks like Martin Jones will have his work cut out for him tonight. Though Jones has played extremely well, it might not be enough to hold back the Pens’ attack.
