Arizona now finds itself with a 1-3 record after losing to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, 17-13. But worse than the loss is the fact that they also might have to do without quarterback Carson Palmer, who might have suffered a concussion, was taken out of the game and is now iffy for Thursday’s match.
Backup Drew Stanton might have to fill in and take charge of leading the offense; he’ll nevertheless be helped by the resurgence of the team’s receiving corps that finally picked up in the game against the Rams. Receivers Michael Floyd and John Brown performed well on Sunday, with Floyd scoring the only touchdown for the Cardinals and Brown leading all receivers with 10 catches for 144 yards.
The Cardinals could also turn to the running game if the air attack doesn’t pan out. Against the 49ers weak defense against the run, that’s allowing 14.5 rushing yards per game, David Johnson could do major damage. Johnson leads Arizona with 21 yards on 47 carries and three touchdowns this season.

The 49ers are in the middle of a three-game losing streak with their latest loss against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, 24-17. Though San Francisco took an early 14-0 lead in the first half, quarterback Blaine Gabbert was unable to close out the game with a win. Gabbert finished with 196 passing yards, one touchdown and an interception.
Adding salt to the wound of losing, the 49ers also lost inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman to an injury suffered in the second half of the game and that will probably keep him sidelined for the rest of the season.
Both Arizona and San Francisco come into this game with a losing record, however the Cardinals have the slight edge to win. If San Francisco is to win, they’ll have to get a rhythm going fast and take advantage of playing on their home field.
