Tennessee Volunteers vs Florida Gators

When: September 16, 2017, 3:30 PM ET

Where: Ben Hill Griffin Stadium

Spread: Gators -5.5

Over/Under: 49

Moneyline: Gators -215 vs Volunteers +185

The 23rd and 24th ranked teams in the nation face off in this game. This can only mean that it’ll be a hard-fought battle to win.

Tennessee got off to a 2-0 start this season with wins over Georgia Tech and Indiana State.

However, while the Volunteers did away with the Sycamores relatively easily, 42-7, against the Yellow Jackets it was quite a different story.

Tennessee, in fact, cut it very close and needed a muddled two-point conversion from the Ramblin’ Wreck to eek out a 42-41 win in Week 1.

Meanwhile, the Gators got off to a 1-0 start after losing their first game of the season to the Michigan Wolverines.

The loss had to be embarrassing for the Gators, who had not lost their season-opener in 27 years.

Now, the Gators basically had a bye last week because of their canceled home game due to Hurricane Irma, so they’re probably looking forward to jump back in the melee at The Swamp this weekend.

Vols vs Gators Betting Trends

  • Tennessee is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Tennessee is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games
  • Tennessee is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Florida's last 8 games
  • Florida is 4-8 ATS in its last 12 games at home
  • Florida is 15-4 SU in its last 19 games at home

Expert Pick: The Volunteers have scored more than 40 points in each of their last two games, and the Gators have had trouble moving the chains against Michigan. I’m going with the Volunteers to win. Take Tennessee at +4.5.

Texas Longhorns vs USC Trojans

When: September 16, 2017, 8:30 PM ET
Where: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
Spread: USC -15.5
Over/Under: 67.5
Moneyline: Trojans -700 vs Longhorns +535

The Terps embarrassed the Longhorns on their home turf in their season-opener, but Texas bounced back with a resounding 56-0 thrashing of San Jose State last week.

While the Trojans did not impress, to say the least, on opening weekend, they looked every bit like the national championship contender against Stanford last week.

USC stuck the Cardinal with a 42-24 on Saturday night. The game, which saw two top 15 teams in the polls lock horns, paved the way for the Trojans to top the Pac-12 Conference standings.

Trojans’ quarterback Sam Darnold also took his place as one of the Heisman Trophy candidates, bypassing the ball around with relative ease, coming up with a few huge plays as you can see below.

Darnold’s performance had named the  Pac-12’s offensive player of the week in completing 21 of 26 passes for 316 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in the win against Stanford.

However, the Trojans will now face a Texas team that is itching to prove their season-opening loss was a fluke.

Regardless, it’ll be a tough game for Texas considering how USC is playing. New head coach Tom Herman trusts his offense to do a good job and, perhaps, go toe-to-toe with the Trojans.

Texas has averaged 48 points per game through the first two games, ranking 12th in the FBS, and averaged 548 yards per game, 15th in the FBS, despite its shaky position at quarterback.

After going through two quarterbacks, Sam Ehlinger and Shane Buechel, in the first two games, coach Herman has not let on who he’ll call for this game.

It’ll be the first time USC hosts Texas since  the programs locked horns in the 2006 Rose Bowl epic, when the Longhorns prevailed on a winning touchdown run by Vince Young in the final seconds of the game.

Expert Pick: The Trojans are the 15.5-point  favorite to win. USC is fantastic when they’re firing on all cylinders, but after last week’s win over Stanford they might be resting on their laurels. Although I believe this game will be close, however, I still think USC will win so I’m taking the Trojans at -15.5.

Clemson Tigers vs. Louisville Cardinals

When: September 16, 2017, 8:00 PM ET
Where: Papa John's Cardinal Stadium
Spread: Clemson -3
Over/Under: 58,5
Moneyline: Tigers -160 vs Cardinals +140

This match is arguably the game of the week, featuring two teams that will fight for the ACC crown.

The Clemson Tigers had a taste of how difficult this year can be in their game against Auburn, where they managed to pull through with a win.

It won’t be any easier against a Louisville team that almost beat them last year. In that game, Clemson lost a 28-10 halftime that was cut short by 26 unanswered points from Louisville that had them take an eight-point lead.

Clemson took back the lead with two scores and four minutes left on the clock, and Louisville couldn’t close the gap. But, it was too close for comfort.

This week, the Cardinals will go out on the field hoping to prove they’re right up there with the best.

But, they face a tough test in Clemson’s defense, which’s as good as advertised. The Tigers sacked Auburn's Jarrett Stidham 11 times last Saturday, through a combination of an aggressive front-seven and a nearly flawless big-play prevention play.

Through two games, they've allowed one gain of 20-plus yards. Austin Bryant, himself, has more sacks (four) than 59 FBS teams.

The Cardinals' defense will also need to step up if they’re going to stop a Clemson offense, that’s weakened but nevertheless deadly.

Louisville’s opponents are averaging over 30 points against them, which could come back and bite them against a team like Clemson.

Considering the Cardinals replaced three of their best defensive players (linebacker Keith Kelsey and Devonte Fields and safety Josh Harvey-Clemons), and that they traded defensive coordinators with Mississippi State, it’ll be a stretch to stop Clemson.

That said, Clemson’s offense has sputtered because of the lack of manpower lost to the NFL.

Against AU, Clemson gained 172 of its 281 yards on two drives — the last one of the second quarter and the first one of the third. Bryant threw nearly half his passes in that span.

Clemson vs Louisville Betting Trends

  • Clemson is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Clemson is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 6 of Clemson's last 8 games
  • Louisville is 0-4-1 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Louisville is 17-5 SU in its last 22 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Louisville's last 6 games

Expert Pick: Clemson is the 3-point favorite. The Louisville offense will keep them in the game but their defense will let them down in the end. Take Clemson -3.
