Houston Cougars vs Texas State Bobcats

  • Time: Saturday, September 24, 2016 7:00 PM ET
  • Place: Bobcat Stadium
  • Betting Line: Cougars -34.5
  • Total: 65

Bet on the Cougars

Though arguably the Cougars are putting their perfect record on the line, there’s probably not much Houston has to worry about in this game. The Cougars are the heavy favorites and winning shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Houston has come a long way with their program and this year a lot has come to fruition if their record is any indication (along with their victory of the third-ranked Oklahoma in their first game).

The Cougars shocked the betting world by defeating the Sooners, 33-23, with some major plays that left many with their mouths open. Quarterback Greg Ward Jr. led the offense with 321 passing yards and two touchdowns while defensive back Brandon Wilson returned a 109 yard missed field goal for a touchdown in the most shocking play of the game. Wilson however will not be on call for this game due to an injury but Ward will.

Though Houston’s offense is nothing to sneer at, their defense is right up there among the best. The Cougars are first in the nation in rushing defense, even managing to keep the Sooners offense at bay and to just 70 yards on the ground.

Bet on the Bobcats

Though the Bobcats kicked off this season with a resounding victory over Ohio, they dropped the ball in their next game and found themselves being pulled apart by the Arkansas Razorbacks losing that game 42-3. There wasn’t much the Bobcats could do to hold back the Razorbacks and were outplayed on both sides of the ball; Arkansas not only outgained them in total yardage, 350-26, but they also shut down Tyler Jones.

Jones will have to up his ante if the Bobcats are to have a prayer in this game. He’s shown plenty of talent so far and stuck the Sooners with 418 passing yards and four touchdowns. If he can connect with receivers Elijah King and Eric Luna, the Bobcats keep this game from being a mauling.

Betting Trends

  • Houston is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Houston is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Houston's last 5 games
  • Houston is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games on the road

  • Texas State is 2-6 SU in its last 8 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Texas State's last 9 games

Game Prediction: There’s no denying the Cougars will win. But, we like to Bobcats’ chances of covering. Bet the dogs at +34.5

Florida State Seminoles vs South Florida Bulls

  • Time: Saturday, September 24, 2016 12:00 PM ET
  • Place: Raymond James Stadium
  • Betting Line: Seminoles -5.5
  • Total: 61

Bet on the Seminoles

The Seminoles plans of reaching the playoffs this year might have come to a screeching halt in losing to Louisville last Saturday, 63-20. Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson was firing on all cylinders and the Noles couldn’t stop him. In the end, Jackson finished with five touchdowns and sent the Seminoles with their tails between their legs.

Regardless, Florida State will have to shake the loss off and get back on track making whatever adjustments necessary to solve their defensive problems that allowed Louisville to cut through them like a hot knife through butter. Especially on third down opportunities, the defensive unit has to do its job and not allow their opponents to convert (Louisville converted five of 10 third downs).

Florida State also has to improve on offense; against Louisville they only amounted to 113 yards through the air and they also struggled to convert on third downs. Quarterback Deondre Francois needs to kick up his game this Saturday, he only completed 7 of 18 passes for 101 yards against Louisville.

Bet on the Bulls

The Bulls picked up plenty of steam in defeating the Syracuse Orange, 45-20, last Saturday. South Florida now finds itself at 3-0 and in a good position to defeat the Seminoles. The Bulls’ offense is running hot this season averaging 49.7 points per game which is 7th in the FBS. Wide receiver Rodney Adams scored three touchdowns against Syracuse and he’ll be needed against the Seminoles if they’re to defeat them.

If Adams can do a decent job through the air and the Bulls can get the ground game going, they’ll surprise the Seminoles. The Bulls have got to get their ground game going fast however to knock Florida State off balance. Running back Marlon Mack leads on the ground having 115 yards on two score on nine carries in their game against the Orange.

Betting Trends

  • Florida State is 6-3 ATS in its last 9 games
  • Florida State is 20-5 SU in its last 25 games
  • Florida State is 18-4 SU in its last 22 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Florida State's last 6 games on the road
  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of South Florida's last 7 games
  • South Florida is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games at home
  • South Florida is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games at home
  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of South Florida's last 5 games at home

Game Prediction: The Bulls will put up a good fight, but the Seminoles will win the game. Count on Florida State to win and cover at -7.

Duke Blue Devils vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish

  • Time: Saturday, September 24, 2016 3:30 PM ET
  • Place: Notre Dame Stadium
  • Betting Line: Fighting Irish -21
  • Total: 59.5

Bet on the Blue Devils

Football isn’t the Blue Devils cup of tea to say the least. Last weekend Duke lost to Northwestern 24-13 and now find themselves at 0-2 this year. Northwestern snubbed the Blue Devils and kept them time after time beyond their 35 yard line.

Though the Blue Devils have something going for them on offense, they’re going to face a mountain of a challenge against Notre Dame’s defense. As for defense, they’ll have to pressure Notre Dame’s quarterback if they hope to upset the Fighting Irish.

Bet on the Fighting Irish

The Irish suffered a disheartening loss to Michigan State last Saturday, 36-28. However, Notre Dame can certainly get their act together again by winning over Duke which shouldn’t prove to be too much of a problem. Granted, it’s not been Notre Dame’s best defense in recent years but they should still be able to stop the Blue Devils’ offense.

As for the offense, quarterback DeShone Kizer is performing well; Kizer passed for 344 yards and two touchdowns against Michigan State and should be able to fire up the offense to score easily on Duke; if he connects with C.J. Sanders this game can turn out to be a blowout.

Betting Trends

  • Duke is 3-6 ATS in its last 9 games
  • Duke is 3-6 SU in its last 9 games
  • Duke is 8-3 ATS in its last 11 games on the road
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Duke's last 5 games on the road The total has gone OVER in 4 of Notre Dame's last 5 games
  • Notre Dame is 6-2 ATS in its last 8 games at home
  • Notre Dame is 7-1 SU in its last 8 games at home
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Notre Dame's last 6 games at home

Game Prediction: Notre Dame wins easily. Count on Notre Dame to cover at -21.
