Clemson Tigers vs Boston College Eagles

  • Time: Friday, October 07, 2016 7:30 PM ET
  • Place: Alumni Stadium
  • Betting Line: Tigers -16.5
  • Total: 43

Bet on the Tigers

The Tigers should be running high on the hog after defeating Louisville, 42-36, last Saturday. And, though they don’t have the opportunity to rest up before heading into this game against the Eagles, Boston College shouldn’t present too much of a problem to win against considering the Tigers’ record.

In fact, last year the Tigers stuck the Eagles with 34 points against 17 and had quarterback Deshaun Watson light them up with 420 passing yards along with three touchdowns. Watson should be able to gain as many touchdowns this year if not more (against the Cardinals, Watson scored five touchdowns).

And, if Watson’s air attack doesn’t pan out for some reason, the Tigers could also turn to the ground game with Wayne Gallman leading the attack. Gallman leads the team with 366 rushing yards along with four touchdowns via the rush.

Bet on the Eagles

The Eagles should be preparing themselves for a hurricane size storm with the Tigers coming to town. Even if Boston College won their last two games, over Wagner and Buffalo, by a trouncing, the Tigers are another animal.

If you’re not convinced this game could turn out to be a bloodbath for the Eagles, all you have to do is consider the 16-point spread. In order to beat Clemson, Boston College needs to slow down Watson and Gallman. They have what it takes in run defense (they allow only 78 rushing yards per game) but they’ll just have to kick it up a notch or preferably two.

If the defense does its job, then the offense led by quarterback Patrick Towles can do its job and deliver the goods. Towles played well against the Bulls, passing for 234 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions but he also fumbled the ball twice which he can’t allow himself against the Tigers.

Washington Huskies vs Oregon Ducks

  • Time: Saturday, October 08, 2016 7:30 PM ET
  • Place: Autzen Stadium
  • Betting Line: Huskies -8.5
  • Total: 70.5

Bet on the Huskies

To say the Huskies tore the Stanford Cardinal a new one would be an understatement. Last Saturday, Washington defeated the Cardinal 44-6 and proved they’re just not playing around.

Washington’s offense, led by quarterback Jake Browning is a well-oiled scoring machine. Browning’s numbers are quite impressive this year:  1,114 yards, 17 touchdowns and zero interceptions.

But, that’s not all regarding this team. It’s defense is equally impressive; the Huskies’ D ranks 15th in the nation in points allowed with 299.2 overall yards per game and eight in points allowed with only 12.8 ppg. It’s also fantastic at creating plays (15 forced turnovers, 20 sacks and 10 forced fumbles).

This is one well-balanced team that has the advantage in this game.

Bet on the Ducks

Meanwhile, Oregon seems to be a sinking ship; last Saturday, the Ducks lost to the Washington State Cougars, 51-33, which set them on a three-game losing streak and 0-2 in division play. This means that any hopes of getting to the College Playoffs went up in smoke.

The Ducks can’t seem to get it together on either side of the ball. The defense gave up 21 or more in each half of last Saturday’s game and have given up an average of 42 points in each of the three losses. As for the offense, freshman quarterback Dakota Prukop has shown he’s green around the edges throwing an interception for each of his four touchdown passes. Oh, and he’s also been sacked 10 times (which is not entirely his fault).

About the only high note for this team is running back Royce Freeman, who finished with 138 yards and three touchdowns against Washington State. Freeman is averaging 8.3 yards per carry which is spectacular for this team. He’ll be facing, however, a tough as nails defense in Washington and it’s likely he’ll be able to crack that nut.

LSU Tigers vs Florida Gators

  • Time: Saturday, October 08, 2016 12:00 PM ET
  • Place: Ben Hill Griffin Stadium
  • Betting Line: Tigers -3
  • Total: 41

Bet on the Tigers

The Tigers finally have something to celebrate about after long-time head coach Les Miles was fired. LSU defeated Missouri last weekend, 42-7, and gave Ed Orfegon his first win as the team’s new coach.

The Tigers also seem to be on track again on offense. Against Missouri, the Tigers gained 634 yards. The duo of Derrius Guice and Darrel Williams racked 293 rushing yards and had three touchdowns each.

Now, the Gators aren’t a pushover and the Tigers will have to work for every yard. Florida has a great defense and offense and they’ll be playing with the returning quarterback Luke Del Rio.

Without Fournette in the fray, the Tigers might be hard-pushed to get their offense going. Fournette injured his ankle a couple of weeks back and is scheduled to play against the Gators but is listed as doubtful.

Bet on the Gators

The Gators struggled to defeat Vanderbilt last weekend. However, as mentioned above, they’re getting their starting quarterback, Luke Del Rio, back for this game.

Del Rio’s return should give the Gators plenty of strength in the air attack. Wide receiver Antonio Callaway will undoubtedly be ready to add his own. Callaway averages 18.6 yards per catch this year. Florida also has a strong ground game with plenty of running backs that cut through opposing defenses. To name a few, Mark Thompson, Jordan Scarlett and Lamical Parine (all have over 194 rushing yards this year).

If Fournette plays, the defense will be hard-pressed to say the least. But, they’ll have to do whatever it takes to slow down Fournette and force quarterback Danny Etling to the air game where they stand more of a chance.
