H2 Week 9 College Football Picks, Predictions, Odds and Previews

No. 5 Wisconsin Badgers (7-0) at Illinois Fighting Illini (2-5), noon ET

Spread: Wisconsin -26
Over/Under: 48.5

You can be certain of one thing: The Badgers will steamroll over the Illini. The Badgers are 7-0 this season and have defeated all but one of their opponents convincingly. They’re also in the hunt for a spot in the College Football Playoff which means they’ll want to make a statement out of this game. Running back Jonathan Taylor will pave the way for a relentless ground attack from which the Illini cannot fight back. Taylor leads the Big Ten with an average of 58.86 yards per game on the ground with 1,112 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Illini are a Big Ten-worst against the run, allowing 210.71 rushing yards per game this season.

Wisconsin vs Illinois Betting Trends

  • Wisconsin is 15-6-2 ATS in its last 23 games
  • Wisconsin is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Wisconsin's last 5 games
  • Illinois is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Illinois is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games
  •  Illinois is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games at home

Pick: Wisconsin -26.

No. 8 Miami Hurricanes(6-0) at North Carolina Tar Heels (1-7), noon ET

Spread: Miami -20
Over/Under: 54

Last time these two teams played, UNC beat Miami 20-13 and since the Hurricanes joined the ACC the Tar Heels have a 7-6 lead in the series. UNC has also won in the last two games; however, this time around things might turn out differently. UNC’s ranks are hobbled by injuries which will be a big factor in how this game ends. The ‘Canes will have a slow start, but will pull away in the second half of the game.

Miami vs North Carolina Betting Trends

  • Miami-FL is 8-3 ATS in its last 11 games
  • Miami-FL is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Miami-FL's last 7 games
  • North Carolina is 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games
  • North Carolina is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of North Carolina's last 5 games

Pick: Miami wins but won’t cover the 20-point spread.

No. 11 Oklahoma State Cowboys (6-1) at No. 22 West Virginia Mountaineers (5-2), noon ET

Spread: Oklahoma State -7.5
Over/Under: 73.5

The Over/Under is not as high for no reason. Get ready for a high flying and scoring affair between these two. West Virginia QB Will Grier leads the nation with 26 touchdowns to his name, while OSU quarterback Mason Rudolph leads the FBS with 378.6 yards per game. About the only edge these two have over each other is OSU’s defense which has limited opponent’s big time plays on some occasions. This isn’t to say they’ll be able to put a lid on Grier, but at least they might be able to keep him in check.

Oklahoma State vs West Virginia Betting Trends

  • Oklahoma State is 7-1 SU in its last 8 games
  • Oklahoma State is 6-3 ATS in its last 9 games on the road
  • Oklahoma State is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games on the road
  • West Virginia is 3-6 ATS in its last 9 games
  • West Virginia is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games
  • West Virginia is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games at home

Pick: West Virginia covers, take them at +7.5.

No. 2 Penn State Nittany Lions (7-0) at No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes (6-1), 3:30 p.m. ET

Spread: Ohio State -6
Over/Under: 57

Ohio State will head into this game with a big chip on their shoulders after Penn State handed them a loss last October. Since their loss to Oklahoma on September 9, the Buckeyes have gone on to win five games straight, but a loss against the Lions effectively means they’ll probably be knocked out of the College Football Playoff. The Lions will look to prove they belong in the Playoff and will hit the ground with Saquon Barkley leading the way. Penn State pulled off a big victory over Michigan and they’ll probably use the same strategy to defeat the Buckeyes, a combination of Barkley on the ground and Trace McSorley’s passing game.

Ohio State vs Penn State Betting Trends

  • Penn State is 14-1-1 ATS in its last 16 games
  • Penn State is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Penn State's last 7 games
  • Ohio State is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Ohio State's last 5 games
  • Ohio State is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games at home

Pick: The Buckeyes are on a road and 6-1, but the teams they’ve faced aren’t at Penn State’s level. Take Penn State at +6.

No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs (7-0) vs. Florida Gators (3-3), 3:30 p.m. ET

Spread: Georgia -13.5
Over/Under: 44

The Gators have dominated the Bulldogs in the last three seasons, winning each game by no less than 14 points. Georgia is hoping to turn things around and this year they probably will. Georgia is a better team this year and Florida’s offense is struggling to put up points (23.7 points per game). Expect the Bulldogs to dominate on defense.

Georgia vs Florida Betting Trends

  • Georgia is 6-2 ATS in its last 8 games
  • Georgia is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • Georgia is 1-3-1 ATS in its last 5 games when playing Florida
  • Florida is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 9 of Florida's last 13 games
  • Florida is 6-2-1 ATS in its last 9 games when playing Georgia

Pick: Georgia -13.5

No. 4 TCU Horned Frogs (7-0) at No. 25 Iowa State Cyclones (5-2), 3:30 p.m. ET

Spread: TCU -7
Over/Under: 48

The Horned Frogs have been one of the best teams in the country this year, with big wins over Oklahoma State and West Virginia. If they can go undefeated, they might find a spot in the College Football Playoff this year. TCU’s running game is clearly their biggest weapon, having outrushed opponents in all seven games this season by a per-game average of 198-81. Meanwhile, the Cyclones have had a surprising season of their own with a big upset of Oklahoma in Norman three weeks ago. The Cyclones are only getting seven points from the oddsmakers but expect TCU to come out gunning.

TCU vs Iowa State Betting Trends

  • Texas Christian is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games
  • Texas Christian is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Texas Christian's last 6 games
  • Iowa State is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Iowa State is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games
  • Iowa State is 8-15 SU in its last 23 games

Pick: Take TCU -7.
