#2 Clemson Tigers vs #12 Virginia Tech Hokies

When: September 30, 2017, 8:00 PM ET
Where: Lane Stadium
Spread: Clemson -7.5
Over/Under: 51.5
Moneyline: Clemson -315 vs Virginia Tech +260

The Tigers have been stopped short of the top spot in the country, by Alabama, even while toppling two top 15 teams in a row.

A win over the Hokies would make it three wins straight, which could be the tipping point for grabbing the honor of being No. 1.

Quarterback Kelly Bryant is playing extremely well, though he’s being cautious in the passing game and sticking close to his guns on the ground.

Bryant has a 67.9 completion rate and a 2-3 touchdown-interception ratio on the season, as well as 268 rushing yards and seven rushing TDs, which isn’t anything to sneer at.

Running back Travis Etienne is also putting up good numbers, racking up 292 yards and four TDs on an amazing 12.7 yards per carry.

The clincher for Clemson is its defense. This season they’ve held opponents to seven points or less and are allowing just 227 total yards per game (134.5 passing and 92.5 rushing).

The Hokies are no pushover nevertheless; and, the crowd will be tough as always in Lane Stadium so the Tigers have their work cut out for them.

These are two evenly-matched teams as Virginia Tech comes into this game undefeated and with a win over a top 25 under their belts.

The offense is led by freshman quarterback Josh Jackson, who’s made a splash in his first year posting  281.7 passing yards per game and a 11-1 TD-INT ratio, which is pretty good for a greenhorn QB.

Jackson has also found chemistry with senior wide receiver Cam Phillips, who has  brought in 34 catches for 523 yards and five TDs.

Last season, the Hokies lost a close game to the Tigers in the ACC Championship game, which was played at a neutral site, so expect to see another close one this time around.

Clemson vs Virginia Tech Betting Trends

  • Clemson is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Clemson is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 7 of Clemson's last 10 games
  • Virginia Tech is 7-1 ATS in its last 8 games
  • Virginia Tech is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • Virginia Tech is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games at home

Expert Pick: The Tigers are the 7.5-point favorites to win the game. I expect the Tigers to hit the ground running, but a late rally by the Hokies will keep the score tight. Take the Hookies plus the points.

Vanderbilt Commodores vs #21 Florida Gators

When: September 30, 2017, 12:00 PM ET
Where: Ben Hill Griffin Stadium
Spread: Florida -10
Over/Under: 42
Moneyline: Florida -370 vs Vanderbilt +310

The Commodores hopes of a 4-0 season, came quickly crashing down against Alabama who crushed them last week in a 59-0 blowout home loss.

Hopefully, they can dust themselves off before this SEC East showdown against the Gators.

First, they must kick the running game into gear however, and this means Ralph Webb needs to start working. Webb has just 64 carries for 169 yards and two touchdowns through four games.

Webb however, has been pretty successful against the Gators. In two previous games, he’s passed the 100-yard mark in each game.

Last season, Webb finished with 110 yards on 24 carries against a Florida defense that ended up ranked 37th in FBS against the run.

Meanwhile, Florida lost its season-opener to Michigan, but won the next two games which include a close win over Kentucky last week.

The Wildcats had an opportunity to win the game as the clock ran out, but Austin MacGinnis’ 57-yard field goal fell short of the mark.

Florida has changed their starting quarterback after three games; Feleipe Franks was pulled in the second half of the game against Kentucky, with Luke Del Rio coming in to fill in his shoes.

Del Rio, started six games for the Gators in 2016 and helped Florida come back from a 13-point deficit against Kentucky and also threw the game-winning touchdown with 43 seconds left.

The Gators still remain the favorites to win the East, but the road ahead will be bumpy with games against LSU, Texas A&M, and Georgia coming up. This makes this game a must win if they want the top spot in the division.

Florida’s defense also needs to kick into gear. The Gators are currently ranked  82nd in the country in total defense, giving up 405 yards per game. Kentucky put up 340 yards last week, hurting the Gators on both the ground (120) and through the air (220).

Between Vanderbilt quarterback Kyle Shurmur and Webb, the Gators’ defense could be in for another long afternoon unless the defense picks up the slack.

Vanderbilt vs Florida Betting Trends

  • Vanderbilt is 5-2 SU in its last 7 games
  • Vanderbilt is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games on the road
  • Vanderbilt is 4-13 SU in its last 17 games on the road
  • Florida is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Florida is 11-5 SU in its last 16 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 7 of Florida's last 10 games

Expert Pick: The Gators are the 9.5-point favorites. However, I expect this match to be closer than what many think. Florida wins, but won’t cover. Take Vanderbilt plus the points.

Miami (OH) RedHawks vs #22 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

When: September 30, 2017, 5:00 PM ET
Where: Notre Dame Stadium
Spread: Notre Dame -21
Over/Under: 53
Moneyline: Notre Dame -1500 vs Miami (OH) +775

Miami hasn’t convinced and are sitting on a 2-2 record.

A couple of good wins over Austin Peay and Central Michigan were shadowed by its losses against Marshall and Cincinnati.

Nevertheless, Miami’s defense continues to surprise and are arguably one of the better defenses in the country, holding opponents to 19 points per game, which is 33rd in the nation.

Meanwhile, the Irish have also raised some eyebrows and now own a 3-1 record.

In fact, ND could have been undefeated had it not been for a loss to Georgia in Week 2.

After winning over the Michigan State Spartans by 20 points, the Irish will be trying to get their name in the playoff conversation, so expect them to come out gunning in this one.

The Irish technically are still in the run for the playoffs, but they’ll need to be practically flawless from now on.

A few weeks ago it was unclear how good the Georgia Bulldogs were. The now #7 Bulldogs just destroyed #24 Mississippi State by a score of 31 to 3. The week prior, Mississippi State beat LSU by 30 points.

It’s time for the Irish to get back to work and leave the 4-8 season far behind. The Irish are ranked 22nd in the AP with a lot of ground to make up.

The Notre Dame offense is superior to the Redhawks defense, so expect to see plenty of action on the ground as they did against Boston College and Temple.

If Brandon Wimbush builds off last week’s performance the Irish will be more balanced with a strong passing attack.

The Irish also must get more players involved such as Dexter Williams, Chase Claypool, and CJ Sanders to name a few.

Notre Dame vs Miami (OH) Betting Trends

  • Miami-OH is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Miami-OH is 8-3 SU in its last 11 games
  • Miami-OH is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games on the road
  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Notre Dame's last 6 games
  • Notre Dame is 18-7 SU in its last 25 games at home
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Notre Dame's last 6 games at home

Expert Pick: The Irish are the 21-point favorites. Even while Miami’s defense has been solid this season, they haven’t faced a team like Notre Dame, so I expect a runaway game. Take Notre Dame.
