Boston College Eagles vs Clemson Tigers

When: September 23, 2017, 3:30 PM ET

Where: Memorial Stadium-Clemson

Spread: Clemson -34

Over/Under: 53

Moneyline: NA

The Eagles just had an embarrassing loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 49-20.

They’re now scrambling for their first conference win of the season against the second ranked team in the country.

Boston College has been sloppy on both sides of the ball, with the offense managing only 53 points so far this season, while their defense has allowed 103.

Last year, the Eagles lost to the Tigers 56-10 at home and this year things could turn out to be just as ugly.

Boston College will have to have a near perfect game in order to defeat Clemson. The keys to victory will be: they’ll have to take care of getting off the field quick and not give up third down opportunities, control the ball, have a nearly flawless game, force Deshaun Watson into making at least some mistakes, and take risks.

Does this sound too much to you? Probably.

Meanwhile, the Tigers defeated a top 15 for a second consecutive week and appear to be headed for the College Football Playoff.

After a big win against Louisville, they’ll probably take their time to warm up and then open up the flood gates in the second half of this game.

What’s really on my mind, is whether or not Clemson can beat the 34-point spread. The game opened at 31, but sharp action quickly moved it 3 points to where it’s at.

Though it’s a stretch, I still think that Clemson is playing well enough to overcome, so the ATS bet makes sense to me.

Considering that Clemson has outscored opponents 117-30 this season and that they beat No. 19 Louisville by 26 points should give you even more peace of mind.

Boston College vs Clemson Betting Trends

  • Boston College is 4-2 SU in its last 6 games
  • Boston College is 8-16 SU in its last 24 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Boston College's last 6 games
  • Clemson is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Clemson is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 7 of Clemson's last 9 games

Expert College Football Prediction

After seeing last week’s game against Louisville, the Tigers will make short work of the Eagles. Take them at -34 to cover.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs Vanderbilt Commodores

When: September 23, 2017, 3:30 PM ET

Where: Vanderbilt Stadium

Spread: Alabama -18.5

Over/Under: 43

Moneyline: Alabama -1050 vs Vanderbilt +750

There’s no denying that since Nick Saban took over the reigns of the Alabama Crimson Tide, the team has become a college football powerhouse.

Year after year, they’ve not only been among the favorites to win the National Championship, but have also crushed the NCAAF lines.

This year, the Crimson Tide once more hit the ground running. In their first two games, they scored 41 points in each, including a  41-23 mauling of Colorado State in Tuscaloosa.

Sophomore quarterback Jalen Hurts put on another show, racking up 351 total yards and three touchdowns, that included a 78-yarder to star receiver Calvin Ridley.

Uncharacteristically however, the defense hasn’t been as dominant, as they allowed a combined 31 points to Colorado State and Fresno State.

Alabama does tend to bounce back from off performances, so I expect them to come out blasting against Vandy.

Meanwhile, Vanderbilt has surprised this season and won all their first three games.

Their biggest win was over the 18th ranked Kansas State last week, 14-7, at home.

Now, they’ll be aiming for another upset of a ranked team for a second consecutive week.

Quarterback Kyle Shurmur has taken front and center in the wins and is off to a strong start this season.

Shurmur has a 71 percent completion percentage and an  8-to-0 touchdown-to-interception ratio, while his 194.85 quarterback rating is sixth in the entire nation.

Vanderbilt has also been great at defending and have allowed just 13 points so far. Nevertheless, they face their toughest test against Alabama, so it’ll be interesting to see how they fare on Saturday.

Alabama vs Vanderbilt Betting Trends

  • Alabama is 24-1 SU in its last 25 games
  • Alabama is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games on the road
  • Alabama is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games on the road
  • Vanderbilt is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Vanderbilt is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games
  • Vanderbilt is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games at home

Expert College Football Prediction

Alabama is the 18.5-point favorite. The Commodores will attempt to stay in the game, but the Crimson Tide will roll over them the end. Take Alabama on the point spread.

Oklahoma Sooners vs Baylor Bears

When: September 23, 2017, 6:30 PM ET

Where: McLane Stadium

Spread: Oklahoma -27.5

Over/Under: 62.5

Moneyline: NA

This used to be an important Big  12 game, but Baylor’s 0-3 start just turned it into somewhat of an uninteresting affair.

Baylor seems to have lost its spark and are treading through mud. The team has even gone through two quarterback to try to get out of this slump but nothing seems to work.

Quarterback Anu Solomon led the offense in their losses to Liberty (48-45) and UTSA (17-10), while Zach Smith was on hand for the Bears’ 34-20 loss at Duke last week.

Nobody knows who head coach Matt Rhule will send out to the field this week to face Oklahoma, but, at least, they’ll have running back Terence Williams back out there.

Regardless, this is football. And, it’s a rivalry game, so don’t count Baylor out just yet.

Meanwhile, the Sooners won their first three games, including a fantastic win over Ohio State in the Horseshoe.

The Sooners hit the ground running this season.  First they tore through UTEP (56-7); then, it was Ohio State (31-16); and, finally it was Tulane (56-14) to not only go 3-0 straight-up, but also 3-0 against the spread.

The offense will strike while they’re hot against a Baylor team that’s allowed opponents an average of 33 points per game.

Once more, quarterback Baker Mayfield is making a run for the Heisman Trophy, and I expect him to have a big game.

The current +220 Heisman favorite is second in the nation in passer rating due to an outstanding 77 percent completion percentage, 348.7 yards per game, and a 10-to-0 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Hopefully Katy Perry won’t get in Mayfield’s way this year as she did back in 2014 (she’s on to Texas A&M QB Trevor Knight now).

In Mayfield’s two previous meetings against Baylor, he’s gone a combined 44-of-59 for 570 yards, five passing touchdowns to two interceptions, and two rushing touchdowns to lead Oklahoma to two wins.

Sooners vs Bears Betting Trends

  • Oklahoma is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Oklahoma is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Oklahoma's last 9 games
  • Baylor is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games
  • Baylor is 1-9 SU in its last 10 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Baylor's last 5 games

Expert College Football Prediction

Oklahoma is 28-point favorite. The Sooners are the better team, but this is a bitter rivalry where anything can happen. Look for Baylor to play its best game of the year and cover the spread. Take the Bears +28.
