Alabama Crimson Tide vs Clemson Tigers

  • Time: Monday, January 11, 2016 8:30 PM ET
  • Place: University of Phoenix Stadium

Alabama Crimson Tide Analysis

The Tide is a powerhouse defensive team and there wasn’t a team out there that could gain even a yard without a fight. Just recently, they shut out the Spartans 38-0 in the Cotton Bowl.

And, heading into this game the Tide will be ready to clamp down on Clemson’s attempts to get their offense going. It’s going to take an incredible effort to get through their defense and it’s unlikely that Clemson running back will be able to do much damage. Alabama will be pressuring Wayne Gallman all afternoon long and will undoubtedly force him to commit more than one turnover and swing the game their way.

Offensively, the Tide packs a punch with Jake Coker leading the passing attack. Coker had a great game against the Spartans going 25 for 30, putting up 286 yards and two touchdowns. Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry of course will lead the running game and he’ll be hungry to gain yards in this game.

Clemson Tigers Analysis

The Tigers proved why they were the No. 1 seed in their game against the Oklahoma Sooners in the College Football Playoff. As the 4-point underdogs, the Tigers snatched that game, winning by a score of 37-17.

Much of the credit goes to quarterback Deshaun Watson, who put up 292 total yards and two touchdowns in their game against Oklahoma. Wayne Gallman also fared very well, adding 150 rushing yards and two additional scores. If Gallman is kept under wraps by the Tide’s defense, Watson could also be an option to run the ball.

Clemson might be able to slow down Derrick Henry and keep Alabama’s running game to a minimum.
