Louisiana Monroe Warhawks vs Oklahoma Sooners

  • Time: Saturday, September 10, 2016 7:00 PM ET
  • Place: Memorial Stadium
  • Betting Line: Sooners -46.5
  • Total: 65

Bet on the Warhawks

The Warhawks won their season-opener against Southern by a score of 38-21 with Matt Viator as their new head coach. However, they now face a Goliath of an opponent in Oklahoma. Quarterback Garrett Smith will do what he can but if he manages even an inkling of what he accomplished against Southern this game could be good for him. Smith finished with 208 passing yards, completing 20 of 33 passes though being picked off twice; he also rushed for 150 yards and scored once on the ground.

Bet on the Sooners

There were a few shockers in the opening games of the season, LSU losing to Wisconsin was one and Oklahoma falling to Houston was the other. The Sooners were beaten by the Cougars 33-23 in their first game which undoubtedly has them irked and ready to come out blazing in front of their home crowd against the Warhawks. Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine will surely cut through Louisiana-Monroe’s defense which is shaky at best and rack up the yards on the ground, while quarterback Baker Mayfield, who passed for 323 yards and two touchdowns against the Cougars, should be able to put up plenty of yards easily in this game.

Jacksonville State Gamecocks vs LSU Tigers

  • Time: Saturday, September 10, 7:30 PM ET
  • Place: Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge
  • Betting Line: TBD
  • Total: TBD

Bet on the Gamecocks

The Gamecocks are the clear underdogs in this game; however, they may end up surprising the Tigers. Last year, Jacksonville State nearly put one over Auburn, on their home turf, losing only in overtime by one touchdown. The Gamecocks also started this year with a convincing win over North Alabama by a score of 31-12. Quarterback Eli Jenkins played very well, putting up 331 total yards, of which 102 were on the ground. Running back Roc Thomas also added 71 yards and three touchdowns, while Tyus Flakes contributed with 72 rushing yards of his own. The Gamecocks’ ground game is running hot and could therefore give them an opportunity to take it to the Tigers.

Bet on the Tigers

The Tigers got the wind knocked out of them in losing their season-opener to the Wisconsin Badgers last Saturday by two points, 16-14. Les Miles’ probably has plenty to worry about and feeling his head on the chopping block if he can’t rack up some wins. Nothing seems to have changed from last season and the Tigers are still too reliant on Leonard Fournette to get the job done. Though Fournette was able to rack up 138 on 23 carries, he wasn’t able to turn them into a touchdown. Quarterback Brandon Harris was sluggish only passing for 131 yards and one touchdown while being picked off twice. The Tigers will undoubtedly rely on Fournette once again in this game and the Gamecocks will have a hard time slowing him down but it’s something LSU has to change if they’re to go far into the season.
