Manchester City vs Dynamo Kiev

  • Time: Wednesday, February 24, 2016 2:45 PM ET

Dynamo Kiev find itself in a place in this competition that they’ve not been in for the past 17 years. And, they’ll be looking to put a blemish on Manchester City’s plans to make it to the quarterfinals.

Bet on Manchester City

Manuel Pellegrini will be heading out of Manchester City next year, replaced by Bayern Munich’s current head coach Pep Guardiola. The move takes place as the English team makes a vie to end their drought in winning the UEFA.

Though MC did make it through the group stage leading Group D into the knockout stage, they still seem unable to successfully make it any further. This team is clearly improving however, winning four of their six group stage games, including win against Monchengladbach 4-2 and Sevilla 3-1 in away games.

Manchester City also will once again have the talents of star forward Sergio “Kun” Aguero, after missing out most of the game in the group stage due to injury. Kun has been a key player for Manchester, scoring 10 goals in 11 games through all the competitions this year.

Bet On Dynamo Kiev

Dynamo Kiev is on a hot streak, though might be rusty heading into this game. The Ukrainian team hasn’t lost since Nov 4th, when they lost to Chelsea and have since gone on a six-game winning streak, including impressive wins over Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Porto in Portugal to lead Group G.

As stated above, they might be a bit rusty after not having played during the break in their league. However, playing at home in this game might give them enough of a boost to push through and defend their pitch.

Dynamo has a great defense that plays well against English teams. They managed to hold Chelsea to a 0-0 draw in Kiev during the group stage and also beat City in the Europa League in the Round of 16, knocking them out with a 2-0 win at home.

They’ll be counting on the talent of forward Andriy Yarmolenko who has two goals in five Champions League games and 8 in 15 league games.

Game Predictions: City is in better form heading into this game. And though the 70,000 strong home crown will be cheering Dynamo on, the home team will lose and City will win 1-0.

Atletico Madrid vs PSV Eindhoven

  • Time: Wednesday, February 24, 2016 2:45 PM ET

It’s going to be one heck of a battle when Atletico faces PSV Eindhoven. While Atletico is the clear favorite, the Dutch champion could once again surprise and end up winning this game…

Bet on Atletico

Atletico got through the group stage as the leaders in Group C and they didn’t have too much strong competition.

Head coach Diego Simeone has successfully guided this team through the UEFA and have gone so far as the finals back in 2014 when they lost to Real Madrid.

The team has gotten better and better and notably improved on defense which now gives them a major advantage of PSV that is without their best striker. So far this year, they’ve only given up 11 goals in La Liga games this year and will make it very difficult for PSV to score considering their lack of players up front.

Antoine Greizmann also adds to Atletico’s strength in the attack. The talented Frenchman has been instrumental in Simeone’s strategy and could wreak havoc in the Dutch team’s defensive ranks.

Though the striker has been out of form over the last few weeks, if the team gets him back in shape, he can give them enough strength to make it further in the UEFA Champions League.

Bet on PSV Eindhoven

The Dutch champion shocked the football world in knocking out the might Manchester United from the UEFA Champions competition. MU fans were silenced as PSV won 2-1 in England and pushed through to the knockout stage.

They shouldn’t rest on their laurels though, as they now face an ever deadlier foe in the Spanish powerhouse Atletico Madrid. Things get even trickier for the Dutch team, if you consider they’ll be without the services of their top-scorer Luuk de Jong who will not be available due to yellow card accumulation. De Jong has been instrumental to PSV’s attach and they’ll be hard-pressed to find the back of the net against the strong Atletico defense.

That being said, PSV is riding on the tails of an eight-game winning streak in the Eridivisie and this should give them an extra push at Philips Arena that could sway things their way.

Game Predictions: Without De Jon, PSV could have major difficulties scoring and finding opportunities up-front. Atletico also has a strong defense and this does not help. Antoine Greizmann will be causing all sorts of trouble up front and will likely find the back of the net in at least one opportunity. Atletico wins 1-0.
