France vs. Australia

France: The French team heads into the 2018 World Cup with a big chip on their shoulders after having lost to Portugal in the most recent UEFA Euro Cup.
Despite all of this squad’s talent, France is prone to making silly mistakes that have led to defeats on the world stage. France lost the 2006 World Cup to Italy in penalties and to Germany in Brazil 2014, however, they’re among the favorites to win Russia 2018.
France needs to open with a statement win and crush Australia in order to silence the naysayers; also, anything less than winning the group would be unacceptable for a team of such caliber.
Australia: The Aussies have made it to the last four World Cups so they’re no strangers to such a competition. But, having barely qualified for this edition as the next-to-last team to clinch a spot is a dark cloud looming on the horizon on how they’ll fare.
The Australian squad hasn’t changed much from that of Brazil 2014 which also went on to win the Asian Cup in 2015. Though France is the heavy favorite to win the group, Australia will match their strengths against Denmark for the second spot.

Peru vs. Denmark

Peru: There’s no denying that Peru qualifying for the World Cup in one of the most difficult regions to do so (South America) has great merit. The Peruvians outclassed and out-qualified Chile, Ecuador, and Paraguay to earn their spot among other soccer giants like Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, and the five-time World Cup champion Brazil.
Even if Peru needed a playoff win over New Zealand to win, they might end up surprising in Russia 2018. Not many people give Peru much hope to make it much further than the next stage, but they’ll at least give a good fight to qualify.
Denmark: The Danish squad also faced a playoff to qualify for the 2018 World Cup and finished second to Poland. But, the team is considered the dark horse of the competition because of how well they play.
Denmark is counting on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen to lead the squad to victory over Peru to give themselves an opportunity against France and Australia that are arguably tougher opponents.
