At this time, both gladiators are just waiting to step into the arena to find out who will walk out victorious.

In the meantime, the crowds are eagerly clamoring for their own champion making their stake with millions of dollars bet on how the fight will play out.

What about you? If you consider you know something about this fight, or even if you couldn’t care less, can you at least admit this is probably the biggest fight in combat history?

And, if so, considering that you will probably watch the fight, perhaps wouldn’t like to know more about the fighters.

But first, here are the fight details:

To be certain, you’ll probably be watching the most viewed event in the history of combat sports.

In fact, the grand majority of what the fight will make, in revenue, will come through PPV watchers who are paying an average of $93 dollars for the privilege of seeing the event

In case you’re wondering what that turns out to, consider that the Mayweather-Pacquaio fight brought in nearly $400 million and this fight is expected to bring in way more.

There’s even a line out on how many people will watch the event via pay per view. As you can imagine, this says something about this one-of-a-kind event.

Onward to more important details…

Take a fighter out of their usual fighting context and it gets pretty hard to gauge how he fares in the new arena.

Granted, the modern MMA combats have their roots in a cage with two fighters with completely different styles, tried to prove their’s was the superior fight technique.

In that sense, Conor McGregor probably has the upper hand simply because it would be unlikely a boxer fighting under boxing rules can prevail in a cage against an MMA fighter using the full repertoire of available punches, kicks, submissions, and limbs.

However, once you flip things around, things get trickier. Because then you step into Mayweather’s world.

The Pound-For-Pound Best Boxer In The World

There’s no saying a fighter can get lucky 49 times in a row. That’s how many times Mayweather has fought and won in his career.

It doesn’t matter that he chose his opponents carefully, you can bet your last coin that it takes one great fighter to accomplish such a feat.

Pretty much every expert agrees, and so does the record, that Floyd Mayweather is the best boxer and in a class that Conor McGregor can only look up at when it comes to boxing.

When it comes to boxing, Floyd lands a lot of punches, doesn’t spend time throwing them, and he’s very hard to hit. He’s is a master at fighting under his terms.

How Can McGregor Beat Floyd Then?

He’s going to have to fight dirty.

I don’t mean that he’ll cheat, or break the rules, although there is also a line for what can happen if McGregor does lose his composure, but that he’ll have to use the rules to his advantage.

I read the story once of how someone with practically no experience won the Chinese Kickboxing National Championships by exploiting a technicality and, basically, knocking his opponent out of the ring three times in a single round.

What this means for McGregor is that he may have to exploit the dirty technique of clinching to change how Mayweather fights.

McGregor can take advantage of being slightly bigger and tie Mayweather up via the clinch.

McGregor is also the younger, more explosive fighter, who is in his prime. And, if he has the patience, can tire out Mayweather enough to get more chances of landing his crushing left blow.

Why Mayweather Loses

Remember in Rocky III, when Rock fell victim to his own success and turned his nose up at the gritty Clubber Land? Didn’t end well for Rocky.

That’s why when Mayweather claims that he’ll be partying every single night before his showdown with McGregor as his strip club “Girl Collection,” it should raise some flags.

Now, Mayweather is more intelligent than Rocky (when Lang fought Balboa, he had only defended his title 10 times), and he may be saying this to lull McGregor into believing he actually has a shot.

By his own words, he states: “When a fighter has lost before, if he loses again they say, ‘Oh, it’s nothing, he’s lost before,’” Mayweather said on a conference call Thursday. “But when a fighter has been dominating for 20-some years and never lost, everything is on the line.

“My legacy. My boxing record. Everything is on the line.”

How The Public Is Betting

Perhaps not surprisingly the public betting money is siding with McGregor. Even while the line opened to favor Mayweather at -3500 (bet $3500 to win $100), it’s gone down to  -400, which means plenty of people believe in McGregor.

But, maybe they sense something about this fight being different. When you consider that Floyd Mayweather will be 41 years old this year, how strong a punch McGregor carries, and how dangerous it would be for Mayweather to be careless against a fighter who can hurt him, things change.

Not many people believed in Jeff Horn and he ended up beating Pacquiao. Anything can happen when two fighters step into the ring.

Even UFC Owner Dana White, recently made his own uncharacteristic prediction, saying he expects McGregor knocking out Mayweather.

“He’s a special kid. I call him the unicorn, he’s different to anyone I’ve ever dealt with.” Said Dana, “I like how he is willing to put everything on the line. I’ve never seen anybody who believes in himself more than this guy does. When he makes up his mind about what he’s going to do, he absolutely 100% believes it, breathes it, lives it, it’s fascinating.”

Why You Bet This Fight

Maybe you think this fight is a farse, a smoke and mirrors show meant to empty your purse and line the promoter’s pockets full of money.

It doesn’t matter, because as the most recent eclipse showed, these things don’t happen often. And, whatever other fight comes along in the future, this will be the first and, perhaps, your one-in-a-lifetime fight to watch.
