San Antonio Spurs vs Golden State Warriors

  • When: Saturday, May 20, 2017, 9:00 PM ET
  • Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio
  • Spread: TBD
  • Over/Under: TBD

Bet on the Warriors

The Warriors didn’t even have to break much of a sweat in Game 2 to defeat the Spurs 100-136. In fact, Golden State rested most of its key players for much of the last quarter because at that point San Antonio wasn’t going to catch up.

Stephen Curry was a man with a mission and unleashed his fury, scoring 29 points on 8 of 13 shooting which included six threes. Neither Kevin Durant nor Klay Thompson were needed much, but ended with 16 and 11 points respectively.

Game 3 is being played on the Spurs’ court where it’ll be more difficult for the Warriors to win as easily, but the way they’re playing it’s hard to see them losing even at AT&T Center. Now, Golden State will have to make some adjustments if Kahwi Leonard does play because of what he brings to the table as far as defense in concerned. But, even if he does play the Warriors seem bound to head to another finals if they keep on playing the way they did in the first two games.

Bet on the Spurs

Without Kahwi Leonard, the Spurs are a hobbled team. In fact, Game 2 was pretty much over from the get-go for the Spurs that trailed the Warriors throughout all the game. Golden State even rested its key players for much of the fourth quarter because they knew the Spurs weren’t going to catch up.

Head coach Gregg Popovich had some words to say of San Antonio’s performance after last night’s game: “I don’t think they believed, and you have to believe. I don’t think, as a group, they really did…” referring to the team’s belief that without Leonard they really don’t have a shot of winning a game.

Whatever the case may be, players such as Patty Mills, Pau Gasol, and LaMarcus Aldridge seemed to share that belief the way they performed. Especially in the case of Aldridge, he’s clearly not playing well and only scored eight points on 4 of 11 shooting.

The Spurs big man was pushed around and seemed squeamish at taking shots and control within the paint and below the rim. If San Antonio is to have a shot at winning Game 3, it’s evident Aldridge will have to step up big time.

The only bright spot for SA was Jonathon Simmons scoring 22 points, but who cannot hope to shoulder the responsibility of being the sole man doing everything.

Game Prediction: The series heads to San Antonio where the Spurs will keep it close. Nevertheless, the Warriors go up 3-0 in the series. No word on the spread yet, but depending on what the number is, I might consider an ATS bet.
