World Series 2014 Betting

The San Francisco Giants seem to have more playoff magic than the Kansas City Royals; the Giants haven’t lost a playoff series in their three appearances since 2010, and always seem to find a way to win games, despite the obstacles. The Royals won their first eight games, sweeping all their opponents, before they ran into the Giants, who handed them their first postseason loss.

Kansas City Royals vs. San Francisco Giants, Game 3, Friday, October 24, 8:07 PM. ET.

Jeremy Guthrie will get the start for the Royals in this game, while Tim Hudson will start for the Giants.

Guthrie, who is a 10 year veteran made his first playoff start against the Baltimore Orioles, and was very effective for the Royals, he pitched five innings, and allowed one run, finishing the game with a 1.80 ERA. He will need to give a similar performance for the Royals to get the win.

Tim Hudson has been around for a while, and has plenty of playoff experience, which has benefited the Giants in his two starts. The 15 year veteran pitched six innings against the Cardinals in his last start, and allowed 4 runs, but the Giants were able to win the game. The Giants will need a better outing from him in order to win this game.

Personal Pick: Jeremy Guthrie has pitched well lately, and will help his team get the win.

Kansas City Royals vs. San Francisco Giants, Game 4, Saturday, October 25, 8:07 PM. ET.
Jason Vargas will get the start for the Royals, while Ryan Vogelsong will start for the Giants.

Jason Vargas has been unflappable in the playoffs so far, and has helped the Royals win the two games he started. He made his first career playoff start on the road against the Los Angeles Angels, and he shut down the Angels offense, limiting them to three hits and two runs in six innings. The Royals hope he can have a similar performance on the road against San Francisco.

Ryan Vogelsong was one of the heroes of San Francisco’s last World Series championship, and the team is hoping he still has some of the magic he had that year, when he was 3-0 in the playoffs. He helped the team win in his first two playoff starts this year, but was a little shaky in his last start, giving up four runs in seven innings; the team will need a better performance from him in this game to get the win.

Personal Pick: Vogelsong will do enough to help the Giants win the game.

Kansas City Royals vs. San Francisco Giants, Game 5, Sunday, October 26, 8:07 PM. ET.

Game 1 starter James Shields will take the mound for the Royals, while Madison Bumgarner will get the start for the Giants.

The Giants got after Shields quickly in the first game, and he was unable to recover from it, giving up five runs in the three innings he pitched. Other than that one game, he has pitched well for the Royals, who are 3-1 in his four playoff starts this year, and he will be expected to bounce back with a win that sends the series back to Kansas City.

Madison Bumgarner improved his record in the World Series to 3-0, with his victory against the Royals in game 1. He has been San Francisco’s workhorse during their playoff run, and is 3-1 in his five starts, with one no decision. He will be expected to help his team get another victory in this game.

Personal Pick: James Shields will play better than he did in game 1, but it won’t be enough to defeat the Giants.
