Betting Odds

Bet on the Yankees – Michael Pineda (R)

Yes, it’ll probably be Alex Rodriguez’ last game of his career against the Red Sox which means that he’ll be looking to stick it to Boston to close out strong. Rodriguez is set to play in this game after being held out of the starting lineup for the first two. Something which probably annoyed fans, but was in line with manager Joe Girardi’s commission to win games and not to “entail farewell tours,” in his words.

New York is sending Michael Pineda to the mound, who is 6-10 with a 5.17 ERA and 3-3 with a 4.20 ERA in six career starts at Fenway Park. The right-hander's last against Boston came July 15, when he gave up five runs on five hits -- including three home runs lasting only five innings in the loss. Pineda should be relieved that he’ll not face Mookie Betts or David Ortiz tonight, both of whom are being checked out after probable injuries.

Bet on the Red Sox - Eduardo Rodriguez (L)

Thursday’s starter, Steven Wright, is being skipped due to inflammation to his shoulder. In his place is Eduardo Rodriguez, who has pitched reasonably well against the Yankees, going 4-1 with a 2.01 ERA in five starts against them. The last time he faced New York he held them to one run on four hits with two walks and a strikeout in seven innings that resulted in a win.

Though being third in the American League East, the Red Sox are still in the hunt for the division lead. Boston’s pen took on Wednesday’s defeat after starter Drew Pomeranz allowed one run through 5.1 innings before four relievers were charged with eight runs to take it to a 4-1 lead. Boston totaled nine hits and six walks with Andrew Benintendi driving in a run and scoring while Sandy Leon scored twice.
