This game will have plenty of storylines featured for both teams, both surrounding the starting quarterback.
In Philadelphia the news is very good as Michael Vick looks like the superstar of yesteryear. Vick led his team to an incredible victory against the Indianapolis Colts facing off against another great signal caller in Peyton Manning. Vick is a double threat and against the Colts he passed for over 200 yards and rushed for over 70 yards on the ground. On any given snap Vick can break a big play with his feet or hit a deep receiver with his strong throwing arm. Vick will need to be on top of his game to beat the Washington Redskins on the road and get revenge for an earlier loss this season.
In the last meeting quarterback Donovan McNabb led the Redskins to victory against his former team. The fans cheered McNabb before kickoff but when the game was finished they showered him with boos as McNabb threw for 125 yards and one touchdown and defeated his old team. Since then McNabb has fallen out of favor with the Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan.
In the last game before the bye week the Redskins lost to the Lions in a game where McNabb was benched for the last drive of the game that could have won it for the Redskins. After the benching, Shanahan struggled to give a good reason and answered with a series of excuses. Shanahan mentioned that McNabb was not familiar with the two minute offense and then countered by calling the quarterback, “out of shape.” McNabb addressed the issue and he looks forward to playing against his former team in Washington.
This is a pivotal game in the NFC East standings and the winner could be nipping on the heels of the New York Giants for first place. Monday Night Football has selected an excellent game against two division rivals, with plenty of subplots, so the only question is, are you ready for some football?
