Los Angeles Angels at New York Yankees Pro Baseball Betting

The Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees begin an exciting three-game series Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.

Los Angeles will enter the series just a game back in the AL West standings and seven games back in the Wild-Card race.  The Angels managed just four runs in winning two of three games against the Mariners over the weekend, which is a cause for concern going against the second-best offense in baseball.  “We need more production, especially on the offensive side,” said Angels manager Mike Scioscia.  “There has to be more growth offensively with us in this last third of the season.”  Los Angeles is an AL-best 32-16 since June 13 and is 31-27 on the road during the 2011 campaign.

Angels starting pitcher Dan Haren is 12-6 with a 2.81 ERA in 24 starts this season and is looking to win his third consecutive start.  He allowed just two runs and 11 hits over 17 frames in picking up victories against the Tigers and Twins in that span.  The right-hander has been solid away from Angel Stadium, posting a 6-3 mark and 3.15 ERA, issuing just 10 walks in 88 2/3 innings.  In eight career starts versus the Yankees, Haren is 4-1 with a 3.78 ERA.  He will be making his first ever appearance at the new Yankee Stadium.

New York dropped the final two games of an important three-game series against Boston and sits a game back in the AL East divisional race.  The Yankees were unable to close the door Sunday night in a 3-2 defeat, which resonated in the clubhouse afterwards.  “It’s a loss,” said Yankees closer Mariano Rivera.  “It doesn’t matter how you look at it.”  The club is likely to bounce back coming back home, not dropping two straight games since June 10.  New York is 6-7 when playing after a day off this year and 27-29 in this situation the last three seasons.

Yankees starting pitcher A.J. Burnett is 8-9 with a 4.54 ERA in 23 starts this season and is coming off a dreadful performance despite the team picking up an 18-7 road win over the White Sox.  He fell two outs short of qualifying for the victory, giving up seven runs and a season-high 13 hits.  Burnett is an even 6-6 with a 4.17 ERA in 14 home starts this year, as opponents are hitting .226 against him.  The right-hander will be facing the Angels for the eighth time in his career, going 2-2 with a 4.60 ERA.

Bettors will be interested in backing the Angels due to their 7-2 mark in Haren’s last nine starts, while the Yankees are 4-17 in Burnett’s last 21 tries against winning competition.
