Both teams jumped back into the playoff hunt with big wins last week and now they will try to keep their winning ways intact.
The Bears beat the rival Minnesota Vikings in Chicago by taking advantage of costly turnovers, most notably by Vikings quarterback, Brett Favre. The aging signal caller had three interceptions on the day and converted just one third down in the entire game. The defensive of the Bears controlled the game and held off the big play offense of the Vikings from start to finish.
The offense of the Bears struggled at times as quarterback Jay Cutler tossed two interceptions, but they amassed 130 yards on the ground to make up for it. Regardless of how they did it, the Bears win put them in a first place tie with idle Green Bay in the NFC North with an overall record of 6-3. Next up is a battered Dolphins team that will attempt to keep pace in their own division.
The Dolphins defeated the Tennessee Titans by a final score of 29-17, but it came at a costly price. Just two snaps into the game starting quarterback Chad Pennington was lost to what could be a career-ending injury. Chad Henne took over at the helm but in the third quarter he suffered an injured knee that left him on crutches. It got so bad the Dolphins had to utilize the Wildcat offense at the end of the third quarter.
Running back Ronnie Brown took over at quarterback to run the wildcat offense until Tyler Thigpen became the fourth player to take a snap when he came on the field in the fourth quarter. Thigpen came into a game for the first time this season and responded with an 85 yard drive that capped off a season-high point total for the Fins. It has already been announced that the Dolphins will start Thigpen this Thursday against the Bears.
The Dolphins need to win to keep pace with the New York Jets and the New England Patriots in the AFC East if they want any chance of making the post season.
This game will be crucial to both teams as they get ready for a run at the playoffs in the NFL!
