NHL Hockey Schedule For Wednesday

In the week heading up to the holidays the NHL hockey slate for Wednesday has just four games.
If you like to wager on hockey than Skybook is the online sportsbook for all of your NHL wagering needs. Skybook makes wagering on hockey simple and offers plenty of wagering opportunities for the hockey enthusiasts.
Just because there are just four games on the schedule, does not mean the games are not exciting with plenty of great wagering opportunities. Here are two of the best games for Wednesday night.
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New York Islanders
One of the early games on Wednesday features a stimulating game between the Islanders and the Lightning.
The Lightning will try to obtain a season high-tying fifth straight victory against the lowly Islanders at Nassau Coliseum. The Lightning have gone 5-7-2 in their last 14 road contests, but had lost five of six at the Islanders before winning last month.
So although the Lightning is currently playing some of their best hockey, they could struggle in this contest.
Nathan Lawson has been called up to play goalie for the Islanders when Rick DiPietro was scratched due to swelling in his surgically repaired right knee. He responded well in his debut although obviously nervous and may be the difference for the home team in this game.
Vancouver Canucks vs. Detroit Red Wings
In one of the most competitive games of the night, the streaking Canucks do battle with the slumping Red Wings.
The Canucks will try to post a fifth straight win in their first trip to Detroit this season, while the Red Wings are trying to avoid their seventh defeat in the last ten games.
The Canucks have mustered to get at least one point in six straight games and are winning on the strength of their goaltender, Roberton Luongo. He has won nine of his last 10 starts while posting 1.69 goals against average.
If the Redwings are able to win this game they will need to play better defense. The Red Wings have given up 15 goals in their last four games and that is not acceptable if they want to beat the Vancouver Canucks.
