Atlanta Hawks vs. New Orleans Hornets
When the year first started not one expert could predict the Hornets would be one of the better teams in the NBA. The Hornets are off to a great start on the year and boast one of the best home records in basketball. They have stumbled in the month of December with a record of 5-7 leading up to this game.
They put that record to the test when they take on the Atlanta Hawks on the day after Christmas.
The Hawks are finally healthy again since Joe Johnson returned to the lineup and have won the last three out of four games heading into this matchup.
One of the best home teams in the league will host one of the worst road teams the day after Christmas. The 76ers have managed just three wins on the road this year and the Nuggets have just two losses at home. It would seem impossible that the 76ers could pull the upset, but with all the recent drama around Carmelo Anthony lately, anything is possible.
Anthony has publically admitted his desire to leave Denver and the fact that he did not sign an extension only amplifies that desire. Recently the New Jersey Nets emerged as a suitor for Anthony’s services and are stockpiling draft picks to make a push for the All-Star. This speculation may be causing a distraction as the team is just 2-3 in its last five basketball games.
This game may not feature two of the best teams in basketball, but it is still worth watching.
