Here is a preview of the Monday Night game
Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans
This game may not look so enticing on the schedule this late in the season but a deeper look reveals plenty of subplots and reasons to watch this battle under the prime-time lights.
The Baltimore Ravens are having a fantastic year. They are 8-4 on the year and in the thick of the race for the AFC North title.
In the last outing they were defeated by their rivals in the Pittsburgh Steelers knocking them into second place in the division. Although they seem like a lock for a playoff spot they will need to win the rest of their games and hope Pittsburgh loses if they want a division title.
Joe Flacco is the signal caller for a Ravens offense that seems to improve every year, and Ray Lewis anchors one of the nastiest defenses in the NFL. That defense will be tested by the high scoring offense of the Houston Texans.
The Texans are not having as good of a year as the Ravens, but surprisingly they are still in the hunt for a division title. They are 5-7 on the season and that is just two games out of first in the mediocre AFC South. The outlook for the post season, may be slim, but they still have a shot and would have to defeat the Ravens on Monday Night Football.
The Texans have an explosive offense with Matt Schaub at quarterback and big Andre Johnson terrorizing cornerbacks with his great pass-catching abilities. The biggest newcomer on this offense is running back Arian Foster and his ability to break tackles and gain big chunks of yardage. The offense has to be good for the Texans to make up for one of the worst defenses in the league.
While this game is important to both teams, it may just come down to a battle between the quick offense of the Texans and the intimidating defense of the Ravens. Tune in on Monday to see what team emerges with the victory and a better chance of going to the playoffs!
