The Louisville Cardinals and the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles will face off against one another in the Beef ‘O’Brady’s Bowl. If the bowl game is as exciting as the previous meeting this should be one of the best games of the bowl season.
The Golden Eagles and Cardinals met last year in a regular season game at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in which the Cards won 25-23. The game was well played and came down to a last minute field goal to decide the outcome of the game.
The latest line as posted by Skybook online sportsbook has the cardinals listed as 2.5 point favorites with the total posted at 57.
Southern Mississippi enters this game with a spread offense that attacks opposing defense. Quarterback Austin Davis is the signal caller for the Golden Eagles. He has thrown for over 2890 yards, completes 63% of his passes, and has 18 touchdowns. Davis also has 571 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns on the ground. He is a double threat that Louisville will have to account for if they want to win this game.
The hiring of new head coach Charlie Strong is the big difference in the way the Cardinals are playing this year. Strong brought a winning attitude with him from coaching at Florida and the team has bought into it and they are hustling on both sides of the ball.
