Philadelphia Phillies at San Francisco Giants Pro Baseball Betting

The Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco Giants meet up for a second game of a four-game set Friday night at AT&T Park.

Philadelphia evened up its season series with San Francisco with a 3-0 shutout win last night in the Bay area.  The Phillies are currently riding a seven-game win streak and improved their record to 31-21 on the road this season.  Life at AT&T Park has not always turned up rosy for the club, coming into the series with a 14-24 all-time mark at the venue.  It’s a surprising mark due to the team’s tremendous 78-42 record over National League West competition since the start of the 2008 season.  Philadelphia is 37-17 in its last 54 games against left-handed starters.

Phillies starting pitcher Vance Worley is 7-1 with a 2.33 ERA in 14 appearances (12 starts) this season and the club has won eight straight games with him on the hill.  He has not tasted defeat since a 9-5 road loss against the New York Mets on May 29.  The right-hander has fared quite on the road in seven outings (five starts), posting a 3-1 record and 2.51 ERA, surrendering just two home runs in 32 1/3 frames.  Worley made his only career start versus the Giants two starts back, giving up just two runs and three hits in a 7-2 complete game victory at Citizens Bank Park.

San Francisco has fallen on hard times recently by dropping six of seven games, as the offense has managed to score just 15 runs over that span.  The Giants have still posted a winning 9-7 record against the Phillies since 2010, including last year’s National League Championship Series win.  The club does have a losing 9-14 mark against opponents from the NL East this season.  Many experts predicted that last year’s World Series champion would take off after acquiring Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran at the deadline, but it hasn’t been the case.  San Francisco is 25-9 after being shutout over the last three seasons.

Giants starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez is 4-5 with a 3.81 ERA in 16 starts this season and will be toeing the rubber for the first time since June 24.  The left-hander has fallen into quite a pattern, as the club has alternated wins and losses over his last 13 outings.  In his last start before being shelved with bicep tendinitis, San Francisco picked up a 4-3 home win, as he gave up three runs and two hits while walking six in a no-decision effort over 4 2/3 innings.  In nine previous outings (five starts) versus the Phillies, Sanchez has tallied a winning 3-1 mark and 2.86 ERA.

At the time of this writing, Philadelphia is currently a -117 road favorite and the total stands at 7 under (-120).
