Bet on the Penguins

Pittsburgh unleashed its full fury in Game 5 of the NHL Eastern Conference Finals and stuffed the Senators with 7 goals to none. What’s more, seven different Penguins scored in the game and helped Pittsburgh to finally jump ahead in the series, 3-2.

Team captain, Sidney Crosby, led his team scoring once in the win while assisting in another score. It’s the third time in a row that Crosby scores in a postseason game.

Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury sat out once more, yielding to Matt Murray who brought in his second career shutout of the postseason, stopping all 25 Senators shots taken.

Don’t expect he Pens to slack off in Game 6. Pittsburgh will be looking out to close out the series, even if this game is being played in Ottawa.

Bet on the Senators

The Senators’ potential first trip to the Stanley Cup is in dire straights. If Ottawa cannot get it together, it’ll be all over for them tonight.

The Senators have seemingly fizzled out as evidenced by their inability to score in the last 29 power play opportunities while allowing five power plays goals on 15 tries of this series.

Goalie Craig Anderson’s defense has been porous and he’s given up seven goals on 49 shots in the past two games after stopping 80 of 83  shots from Games 1 through 3. Defenseman Erik Karlsson is also struggling, being pulled out at the end of the second period likely due to an ailing leg injury suffered at the beginning of the playoffs.

The Senators still have a shot at extending the series to seven games however, but, played at Pittsburgh.
