VFL Wolfsburg vs Gent

  • Time: Wednesday, February 17, 2016 2:45 PM ET

Betting on Wolfsburg

The Germans knocked out the British powerhouse team Manchester United out of competition back in the group stage. They now host the Belgian Zent on their home pitch. Wolfsburg passed to the knockout stage at the top of Group A, with four wins and two losses, after beating Man U 3-2 at home.

The Germans might be hard pressed to go any further, after having released Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City. De Bruyne was key to Wolfsburg’s attack in the Bundesliga and might be a factor that affect WB in the Champions at this stage.

Wolfsburg is playing at home, however, where they’ve been better at defending against opponents. With the likes of Julian Draxler, Andre Schurrle and Max Kruse on the attack, Wolfsburg might be able to break through Gent’s defense.

Betting on Gent

Gent is the only Belgian team in 15 years to make it to this stage of the Champions and despite limitations in talent and players.

Having won over their last three group opponents, Valencia, Lyon, and Zenit, they more than earned their ticket to the knockout stage. Being the heavy underdogs means they have nothing to lose and everything to gain from now forward.

As the only Gent player to score more than one goal in the group stage, they’ll be counting on midfielder Danijel Milisevic to continue producing goals for them against Wolfsburg.

Free Pick: Gent will tie on German ground, the match ends in a draw 1-1.

Real Madrid vs A.S. Roma

Betting on Real Madrid

With new manager Zinedine Zidane at the helm, Real is well on track to continue its success in the Champions. Real have now gone six games undefeated with Zizou, scoring as many as four goals in as many matches played.

Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, tops the scoring charts with 11 goals in just six games. However, the Spanish powerhouse might still be without Gareth Bale for this match. Regardless, there’s no shortage of talent in this teams and they’ll undoubtedly be looking to score many goals on Italian ground.

Betting on A.S. Roma

Roma had a horrendous showing in the group stage. However, though giving up 16 goals and only winning one of six matches played, they somehow managed the second spot behind Barcelona in Group E and edged out Leverkusen for the pass to the knockout stage.

They have since pulled their act together under new head manager Luciano Spalletti, winning their last four league games straight and climbing to the fourth spot in the rankings.

Having acquired the talent of Stephan El Shaarawy, on loan from AC Milan, Roma now has strengthened its attack of Mohamed Salah and Miralem Pjanic.

Free Pick: Roma will not win at home but will avoid the defeat. This game ends in a draw 2-2.
