Real Madrid Betting

Though winners of the first-leg match, Real Madrid knows it must go on the attack at Bernabeu in order to secure its lead and pass through the first stage.

Coach Zinedine Zidane chose a 4-3-3 formation in the first game, moving Isco, Lucas Vazquez, and Ronaldo up front and dropping Benzema and Gareth Bale.

The change allowed for a quicker attack though Ronaldo pretty much was quiet at the striker/center forward position.

After Isco and Carvajal were injured, however, Zidane brought in Benzema and Asencio, moving back to a 4-4-2, which opened up scoring possibilities in the second half.

The switch also allowed Lucas Vazquez to drop back and close out Bayern’s wing attacks which had been causing major headaches for Keylor Navas.

Real, however, must pressure Lewandowski and Muller in this game and deny crosses into the box that could lead to scores.

Though Real Madrid has the lead, games like these can quickly turn into disasters which could have them scrambling as they did against Juventus in the previous round.

Predicted Lineup

Navas – Vazquez, Varane, Ramos, Marcelo – Casemiro, T. Kroos, Modric, Kovacic – Ronaldo, Asensio

Bayern Munich Betting

Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes is behind the eight ball, but quickly defended his team’s lack of scoring knowing things could change for the better in the away match.

Namely, Heynckes stood up to defend Robert Lewandowki’s failure to find the back of the net over his last four games.

Even so, the fact is Bayern must be more efficient than they were in the first leg when they missed all sort of scoring opportunities. Bayern has struggled against Real in recent years, losing six in a row including last season’s quarter-final.

But, the Germans are missing many key players due to injury including Arjen Robben and defender Jerome Boateng which could negatively affect the game’s outcome.

Heynckes has downplayed the past as irrelevant, but the fact is no team has ever overturned a 2-1 home first-leg defeat in the Champions League, in seven previous such occurrences.

Even if Bayern will likely score in this game, the same is true for Real Madrid which would spell disaster as they have to overcome the two away goals already.

Predicted Lineup

Ulreich – Kimmich, Sule, Hummels, Alaba – J. Martinez – Alcantara, J. Rodriguez – T. Muller, Ribery – Lewandowski

Game Prediction: Bayern was on paper superior in the first game; in theory, if they can play as well in this match, creating as many opportunities to score while keeping discipline on defense, they can realistically beat Madrid and advance. But, this is an unlikely outcome so Real is the way to go. The final score is Real Madrid 2-1.
