Spurs Betting Analysis

San Antonio watched their hopes of winning game 5 dashed as their lead disappeared in the last period of that game bearing witness to a masterful performance of the Thunder’s Russell Westbrook. Now, they’re forced to win on the Thunder’s court tonight, lest they be packing and going home.

Over the last couple of games, the Spurs have been schooled by the Thunder. Oklahoma has been dominant at rebounding and has left the Spurs with their hands up in the air unable to grab many rebounds and without second shot opportunities.

And, even if LaMarcus Aldridge and Kahwi Leonard have been playing really well, they’re still being outmatched by the Thunder’s dynamic duo of Westbrook and Durant. It’s clear the Spurs will need not only Aldridge and Leonard to come through but also Tony Parker to fall into line and get some offense going. Danny Green also needs to have another good game as he had in game 5 when he scored 20 points.

The Spurs will have to get in the way of Durant and Westbrook and figure out a way to stop them from getting in the flow. Though that will be easier said than done playing on the Thunder’s home court.

Thunder Betting Analysis

Westbrook and Durant are a great combination. But, if Durant is this team’s leader, Westbrook is the motor that keeps the offense going and has been in many ways much more balanced than Durant.

Westbrook’s contribution was critical in the Thunder winning in game 5. All in all, Westbrook finished game 5 with 35 points, 11 boards and nine assists. And, he was the one that scored  the game-winning layup as the game was in its final seconds.

Now is not the time to celebrate. The Thunder needs not only Westbrook and Durant to come through tonight, but will need the entire team to pull their own weight. They need to continue the job they’re doing in controlling the boards and making the Spurs work extra hard to get second-shot opportunities. Throughout this series, the Thunder has grabbed 44.4 rebounds per game to the Spurs’ 37 and this makes one heck of a difference.
