Betting on Boston

Boston had a slow start at the beginning of the season, but have picked themselves up as of late, winning five games straight and seven of their last eight.

Coupled with the Yankees’ recent slump, Boston’s success has taken them to lead the AL East with a 2.5 game lead over the Yanks.

Much of Boston’s success can be attributed to their pitching staff, who have kept opponents in check.

The Red Sox lost a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth in Monday’s opener, but got back on track in the 11th eventually winning the game 7-5.

Former Cy Young award recipient, Rick Porcello, who has struggled this year, only allowed three runs through six innings helping in Boston’s win.

Before Monday’s game, the Sox had only allowed 16 runs in their last seven games, scoring a total 49 runs

For the season, Boston pitching staff has a 3.79 ERA, which is third in the league, and also have 469 quality starts, which is second best in the league.

Boston has also brought some great hitters this year. Heading into this series Xander Bogaerts had 95 hits, 49 runds and 39 RBO while Mookie Betts acquired 92 hits, 56 runs, 15 homers and 51 RBI.

Pitching Analysis

David Price gets the nod tonight; in seven starts, Price has a 3-2 record with a 4.61 ERA.

Price has given up at least two runs in each of his last four starts but despite this the Sox are 3-1 in that span.

Price missed most of the first half of the season due to injury but Boston is expecting him to get back in form.

Boston Trends

  • Boston is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games on the road
  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Boston's last 6 games on the road
  • Boston is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games when playing Texas

Betting on Texas

The Rangers have not had Boston’s success, losing six o their last eight games and falling from second to fourth in the AL West.

Texas’ starting rotation has sucked lately, allowing opponents to score 44 runs over the last eight games, including seven in the series opener.

Nevertheless, the Rangers can still get back on track and grab a Wild Card in the AL.

However, they cannot lose any more games at home against teams which they’re competing against for the wild card.

Pitching Analysis

Yu Darvish will get the start for the Rangers. In 17 starts, Darvish is 6-6 with a 3.11 ERA.

Darvish has been successful for the Rangers despite only acquiring one win in his last seven starts. He’s only allowed three runs or less in all but one of those starts, but hasn’t gotten too much run support as he did earlier this season.

Texas Trends

  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Texas's last 5 games when playing Boston
  • Texas is 5-2 SU in its last 7 games when playing at home against Boston
  • The total has gone UNDER in 12 of Texas's last 18 games when playing at home against Boston

Expert Pick

The Red Sox are on a roll and seem pretty much unstoppable at the moment with how they’re pitching and hitting.

Nevertheless, Darvish, who’s also been successful against the Red Sox, can put the Sox’s batters in hot water. Take Texas SU or on the spread and bank on it!
