  • Place: Rogers Centre

Betting Odds:

  • Royals +170
  • Blue Jays -180
  • Total 9

Bet on the Blue Jays – (r) Aaron Sanchez

Right-hander Aaron Sanchez will take the mound tonight, sporting a 8-1 record this year over 16 games.  Sanchez now has a 3.08 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP in 105.1 innings. Though some analysts believed Sanchez would be moved to the bullpen earlier this year to give him a rest from his workload, his performance has prompted talks that he stay in the rotation all year long.

Toronto has some excellent hitters in their ranks as well. Josh Donaldson has put up 93 hits with 73 runs, 20 homers and 56 RBI, while Kevin Pillar has 82 hits with 34 runs, seven homers and 33 RBI. Edwin Encarnacion has a team-high 22 home runs with 76 RBI, 82 hits and 54 runs.

Bet on the Royals – (r) Edinson Volquez

Kansas City just finished off a series against the Phillies, where they lost 2-1. The Royals, who beat the Blue Jays in six games in the ALCS before winning the World Series over the New York Mets in five games, are now third in the AL Central with a 43-38 record after last Sunday’s loss.

Edinson Volquez will start on the mound tonight and carries a 4.80 ERA with a 1.43 WHIP in 99.1 innings along with a 7-7 record this year. On Wednesday, Volquez put up 6.2 innings with six hits and no earned in a no-decision. Volquez is 0-4 with a 6.46 ERA in six career starts against Toronto but threw six scoreless innings in Game 1 of the ALCS that ended in a 5-0 Royals victory.

The Royals starting rotation has been a thorn in their side this year. Kansas City began Sunday ranked 12th in the American League in starters' ERA at 4.97 and after the day was done, sported a 27-34 won-lost record.

However, Kansas City’s batters are well-rounded overall. Eric Hosmer has hit 94 times with 43 runs, 12 homers and 48 RBI, while Alcides Escobar has put up 92 hits with 29 runs and 21 RBI.
