Baseball Betting Analysis: Kansas City Royals vs. Baltimore Orioles

The Kansas City Royals are this year’s Cinderella playoff team that most of the country is rooting for, because of their toughness and ability to come back from deficits against better teams, which has been their calling card during the playoffs. They are going up against a determined Baltimore Orioles team that is trying to make it to the World Series for the first time since they won it in 1983.

Kansas City Royals vs. Baltimore Orioles, Friday, October 10, 8:07 PM. ET. TBS.

After needing extra innings to win their Wildcard game and advance to the ALDS, the Royals needed more extra inning heroics in their first game of the ALDS to get the win, and they are hoping for a less dramatic way to win the first game of the ALCS against the Baltimore Orioles.

The Orioles also had their share of close games in their ALDS matchup against the Detroit Tigers, and will be hoping for an easier time against the Kansas City Royals, which doesn’t seem likely, based on how well both teams have played so far, and the fact that the Royals won their regular season series 4-3.

Pitching Matchups

The Royals will give James Shields his third start of the playoffs, while the Orioles will probably send Chris Tillman to the mound for his second career playoff start.

After finishing the season 14-8, with a 3.21 ERA, the Royals gave him the start in their Wildcard game, and he pitched 5 innings for the team, allowing four runs against the Oakland A?s. In his second start, he played much better, allowing 2 runs in 5 innings, helping his team to a 12-3 win. He will be making his third start against the Orioles in this game, and is 2-0 against them this season, which should give him a lot of confidence heading into the game.

Chris Tillman also pitched well for the Orioles this season, finishing the year 13-6, with a 3.34 ERA, earning him the team’s first start of the playoffs. He allowed 2 runs in 5 innings in his first playoff start, and was very solid on the mound for the Orioles. The team will be relying on him to pitch as well as he did in the first game against the Royals, who he is 1-0 against this season.

Both of these teams have a similar never quit attitude, so it will be interesting to see which team blinks first. The royals have one of the best batting averages in baseball, but don’t score as many runs as the Orioles, who also have one of the best batting averages, and score more runs than the Royals.

The Royals have a more experienced pitching staff, led by James Shields, but that won’t intimidate the Orioles, who went through the last three Cy Young award winners to make it to the ALCS.

Personal Pick: The Orioles have been very consistent this year, especially in the playoffs, they will be playing in front of their home crowd, which will give them an advantage over the Royals. They will hand the Royals their first loss of the playoffs.
