The unbelievable turnaround for Miami (OH) continues when they take on Middle Tennessee in the GoDaddy.com Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. The latest college football odds for this bowl game have latest line posted as a pick ‘em with the total set at 48.
The Redhawks started the year with low expectations under Michael Haywood as Miami of Ohio went 1-11 in his first year with the program last season. This year they started slow with a 4-4 start in 2010. The team turned a corner after that; however, winning its last five games and getting an invitation to a prestigious bowl game. The team won the MAC Championship and will be looking to finish off a drea season.
Although Haywood, had apart in the team’s success he will not coach in the bowl game after he was hired to replace Dave Wannstedt at Pittsburgh. Defensive backs coach Lance Guidry will serve as interim coach as he tries to guide the team to a victory.
Middle Tennessee also became bowl eligible in dramatic fashion. They rallied past Sun Belt Conference co-champion Florida International on Phillip Tanner’s late touchdown run for a 28-27 win becoming bowl eligible.
Quarterback Dwight Dasher, suspended for the first four games for accepting a $1,500 loan, threw for a season-high 244 yards. Dasher will be playing in this game and hoping to repeat his success from his previous bowl experience.
Dasher set a bowl record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 201 and totaled four TDs in a 42-32 victory over Southern Miss in the New Orleans Bowl last year.
This is the first meeting between the schools and should be an entertaining matchup between two schools on the rise.
